Snowcapped Indigo under Skies Ablaze by Kevin Benedict Via Flickr: Even with an absolute eruption of sunset color, the majestic shadowed and snowcapped Tetons still set the mood in this serene and spectacular vista, in Grand Teton National Park, near Jackson, Wyoming. Back in June, I enjoyed a great family trip in celebration of my wonderful Dad's eightieth birthday. The weather was perfect for embracing the outdoors in all the varying ways preferred by each of the three generations present, with favorable temperatures and blue bird days the whole time. So on the one afternoon that some textured clouds appeared, I took an early leave from the family dinner activities in town and headed into the park. Ordinarily, I would have thought the first week of June would be a fairly quiet time in Jackson Hole, but not this year--after the last year. The more well-known locations in the park were packed with crowds, but I had this place to myself, and this vibrant burst of beauty in the late evening skies made quite an impression to say the least. Of course, the night my family passed on heading back in the park is the evening this happens! This was a sunset I would love to have shared with them. In not being able to get out as much I would have liked over the past year, I really missed the suspense that precedes each sunset when there are clouds enough, and well-enough structured, to give hope for a memorable show. Will it or won't it? Or will it light just off to the side--tantalizingly and maddeningly so--or only even farther afield? That's part of the fun to me, and the disappointments only heighten the excitement when it all comes together, as it did here! Thanks for viewing!
