Just an another day at the Mara....but for us photographers, it was a sighting after waiting for close to 4-5 hrs at the same spot. Learning Photography - Where to start from? With the growing number of digital photographers, this is one of the most common questions I get. The answer is very simple and equally complex. Simple - Because all it takes, is for you to spend good amount of time on creating a strong foundation on the basics of photography and then take it forward. Start with getting a very good understanding of exposure triangle parameters. Complex - Because it takes time to learn the basics and spend enough time in the field practicing it - And a lot of users do not have that patience. They want to learn photography and start making good images over night. They are looking for the "fast food" options and unfortunately it does not exists. Start slow and then you can grow based on the needs. This kind of habitat shot images can be easily got with your entry level camera + lens. Spotted Deer - Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve Everything is so good about this pic...but still it will not make it to my portfolio... A very important aspect of wildlife photography is to understand about light...in this case as you can make out, it's side lighting I have which has caused shadow on itself and also since it is side lighting - I did not get good details in the eye. It's become dark... As beginners in photography, it is important to get good eye contact with the subject. Bad eye contact yields bad images. No matter how good it looks.... So next time you are in the field and about to click, check if the eyes are properly visible with good catch light....otherwise, no use clicking as it will go to bin.
