Right click on your mask layer, click Select Pixels.
Click the Folder icon and then the Raster Mask icon on the bottom right. This should create a new folder.
Duplicate your gif into your project, either by clicking and dragging it into it or by right clicking and duplicating it into your project.
Simply put your gif into the folder that you made earlier and adjust it as needed. (make sure you have the WHOLE GIF FOLDER selected and have AUTO-SELECT OFF! otherwise it'll only edit one frame)
Export it as a gif and you're done.
You CAN do this with images that have faded borders, but it is important to note that gifs will make masks with any fading solid if you export it as a gif. Exporting it as a webp will keep the fading, though.
tutorial was made using windows! doing this instead of making my own gifs #procrastination.
apps / things needed:
kmplayer (or any screencap program of choice)
downloaded video of choice (recommended 720p or higher quality)
coloring / sharpening action (optional)
so first we're going to download our video. you can use any program for this. 1080p or higher quality is better obviously, but i downloaded my video at 720p since that's the minimum quality i'll gif at.
ONE.
first thing is opening / loading the video:
click the program name and then quick open file then load your video. you can also load the video by dragging it into the kmplayer box.
TWO.
right click the screen to open the main menu. then go to capture > frame extract. alternatively you can just use ctrl + g.
these are my settings, you'll have to adjust it for your screencaps if you want something else.
THREE.
open your files in photopea. first go to file > open > (your folder with your screencaps) and pick the first or last screencap you have. i picked the first (leftmost image).
then go back to file > open > open and place > (your folder with your screencaps) and select ALL of the images. it should have all of your screencaps now and you can delete the first/'background' image.
FOUR.
to crop your image use the crop tool. you can do any size obviously, but my new gif looks like this.
FIVE.
select all your frames and then right click and go to layer > rasterize. this allows you to sharpen your gif like a smart object in photoshop. (it's greyed out since i already clicked it.)
SIX.
to make the frames into an actual gif go to layer > animation > make frames. if you don't want to do anything else then go to export as > gif.
this is the final product. note: there has been no coloring or sharpening applied here! since photopea has no traditional timeline like photoshop you adjust your gif speed here during the saving portion. this gif has 171 frames and has a 240 speed.
SEVEN.
you can create actions in photopea the same way you create them in photoshop. so we'll create a sharpening action under window > actions.
obvious note: every gif is different so one sharpen might not look good on another. this is a very basic example sharpen. figure out what works for you!
this is the final product with sharpening applied. note: there is no coloring added here!
EIGHT.
to add someone else's psd open the psd in photopea. then right click the psd and duplicate into. then choose your gif as the destination.
this gif has sharpening and coloring added.
you can also obviously do your own coloring. you'll have to experiment with colors/sharpens and see what works.
⠀ 1.⠀ ⠀ i usually make my graphics in ibis paint x but you can use whatever programm you like,⠀ import your gif (s) and graphic into photopea by pressing file and open.
⠀ 2.⠀ ⠀ they will open in different tabs to have them in the same tab select the layer / folder you need and drag it to the tab.
⠀ 3.⠀ ⠀ now the gif might not be the size you want or in the right place,⠀ to fix this click the arrow symbol at the top,⠀ untoggle " auto select " as otherwise only the top visible layer of your folder will move,⠀ to resize it toggle " transform controls "
⠀ 4.⠀ ⠀ resize and move it to your liking,⠀ add your coloring / psd ( optional),⠀ now at click " file " and then " export as " and select " gif " select your speed,⠀ i recommend anything from 100 - 104 and click " save "
⠀ 𓂅⠀ but how do make them w/ multipible gifs ?⠀
⠀ 1.⠀ ⠀ if you simply follow the tutorial above with more than one gif you may find that the gifs play after another not simotaniously,⠀ to fix this click " layer ",⠀ " animation " and then " merge. "
⠀ 2.⠀ if you have a gif you want under your graphic and gifs you want over it,⠀ first place all gifs under it and do the step above and save.⠀ import it again and add all the gifs you want over it,⠀ do the step above once again,⠀ add your coloring / psd ( optional ) and save it ! :3
How-To: Scalloped outline in Photopea! (Mobile friendly tutorial)... Tutorial under the cut!
First import your image (with a transparent background) and select the subject however you please. Since I was doing this on mobile and couldn't right-click, I added a blacked-out version of the image, then did Select > Color Range > Shadows.
Press the symbol below the layers button that kinda looks like a parabola to open the paths menu, then create a new path by pressing the third symbol from the right. Select the pen tool under the path option and choose to make a shape.
Put the shape you just made underneath the transparent, then use the shape tool to edit the outline! Mine looks kinda weird because I made the transparent in two seconds with the magic wand and didn't bother cutting out the gaps in the hair oops.
Here's the finished result!
Tagging @ttutorial for reach, I hope you don't mind! This took me way longer than it should have to figure out, so reblogs are appreciated!
hii angles, i recently got an ask on my [ screencap account ] asking for a tutorial for my moving grain pictures that i use for almost everything. this is my first tutorial, so i hope it's clear! i use PHOTOPEA to edit, but i'm guessing for photoshop users it may be the same. this may also be a long way around it, but it works efficient enough for me :)
BEGINNER FRIENDLY! ★☆☆☆☆
firstly, you'll want to load in any picture you want to create a moving grain for, if this is an edit, make sure the text is ABOVE the picture, most grain actions and sharpening tools tend to make text look awful, in my opinion, but that's up to you! ( layer, not player. *facepalm* )
EDIT: make sure you filter these pictures with NO grain.
second, duplicate the picture edit as many times as you want, i tend to go for four, it seems like the perfect amount for the edits i make, but you may like more or less.
third, select all layers EXCLUDING THE TEXT LAYER and go to layer > animation > make frames. this will turn your picture into ‘moving’ frame pictures like a gif.
fourth, i personally use my own action for photopea, but in the case of just wanting a moving grain, you'll want to select all those for layers EXCLUDING the text layer. this is where you'll add any sharpening if you'd like it. to get a grain though go to filter > noise > add noise and find a level of noise you're comfortable with.
fifth and final, you're free to save your work! remember to save it as a gif, or you will not get the moving grain. <3
