THAT PHOTOCATALYST IS WAY TOO BRIGHT.
Testing visible light photocatalysts I synthesized. Picture taken with normal phone camera and through blue filter glasses. I don't know too much about the properties of this catalyst yet (except for that it's the best for my system so far!), but it "glows" through the red lenses when the other ones I made don't! So cool!
When you get some photocatalyst in your oil bath too....
The Jui Group Tries to get a Red Bull Sponsorship: Pt II
Photoredox catalysis is a large part of what we investigate in our lab (Jui Group, Emory University). Whether our chemistry utilizes iridium centered photocatalysts or organic dyes (pictured here: fluorescein and rhodamine), the reactions are always stunning since they are irradiated by a blue light. The reactions are held in a custom reaction tube holder designed and 3D printed by Dave.
