My boss told my coworker she knows we need / respond to positive reinforcement, but she’s stopped doing it bc it “isn’t her personality.”

A thrilling sequel to - “I won’t sign the faculty support letter for you to have living wages, bc I just don’t understand the issue” and refusing to read/educate herself on the topic

It’s so interesting when you can tell which reactions have substrates that quench the fluorescence of your catalyst, and some that have substrates that don’t. Photophysics in action 😎

We’re a real lab now!!! Got a brand new cork board and printed off the papers we’ve published in the last 4 years, hoping to fill it up quick :)

Saying goodbye to an old friend today, only to say hello to a brand new one (not pictured, I’m sure you can imagine what it’d look like new). This is why you wear lab coats!!!

Note: re-sewn top button. Missing third button. Holes everywhere from leaning up against the hood. Lots of random chemicals (built up over years). Faded back from leaning against benchtop. Holes in pockets. Dirty sleeves. one was my “I have an emergency itch” or “I’m sweating from using pyrrophoric chemicals” sleeve where you can see makeup. Lots of sharpie marks. We had a good run, farewell old friend, it’s time for me to upgrade a level in safety.
