think overall this is a pretty good chart. While there is never any exact numbers that you have to follow, starting with these suture sizes are pretty good to start with. Simple interrupted sutures are used most frequently. When I was in the ER, I mainly just used simple interrupted sutures. In urgent care settings, most people are mainly just using simple interrupted sutures. Get good at it. I would say in general most people always do 3-4 throws. Research shows, for surgeon's and square knots, at least 4 throws are generally indicated to achieve knot security; for sliding knots, at least 5 throws are generally indicated.
