as some of the most widespread and common insects on the planet, there's some irony in cabbage whites also being ridiculously elusive even by butterfly standards. this large white (Pieris rapae) was so unnaturally calm that i thought something fishy was going on, but it still ended up not letting me get too close so i think i just caught the 1 in 1000 that knew what landing was
