Purchased today. A spectacular pair of American Federal Eglomise Pier Mirrors, ca. 1800-1810. An exceedingly delicate triangular pediment with reverse painted and gilt glass with roses and dogwood blossums? Carved pineapple finial. Sphere decorated cornice flanked by Corinthian fluted columns. 5 spheres on chains (three from top finial platform and one from each side finial). All surfaces are gessoed. Some gilt, some painted gold, some painted black. 43" tall x 16" wide. In as found condition. A nearly identical pair of mirrors is currently offered by George N Antiques in New York. Curious to know where these were made. Please message me for additional information and images of these outstanding mirrors. #antiquemirror #federalmirror #piermirror #piermirrors #eglomiseglass #federalperiodfurniture #carvedpineapple #pineapplefinial @iowacityart (at Iowa City Art & Antiques) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ7QlhBHZwY/?igshid=15krdoyrmjzlw
