No but fr I didn't expect them to survive but wanted them to be together in death like in the comics which in there pretty much everyone other than Hughie and Starlight survive at least from the main characters iirc I just expected more from them and you're right the whole bs of thinking they broke up or whatever made no sense and was never brought up again other than thinking of having kids (which is when I knew Frenchie was going to die because why else would you talk about the future if that isn't foreshadowing for his dead) It's making me wish they actually did run away together back in season 3. Btw was it ever revealed why Black Noir couldn't talk this season was he method acting? I didn't understand because when he was alone with the deep he wouldn't talk early on but later eps he starts talking again

The moment Kimiko refused their escape, I already had a feeling things weren’t heading toward a happy ending… like, the warning signs were flashing way too obviously at that point.

Yeah, I’m glad Kimiko survived and got the chance to start over, but it still felt really bittersweet… and during those scenes where it genuinely looked like they were breaking up (which honestly annoyed me at the time), I got the impression the writers were trying to hint at the last minute that Kimiko maybe wasn’t fully sure about the relationship and wasn’t as emotionally invested as Frenchie was… and that just felt so unnecessary. Later on, it became obvious how deeply it affected her and how much he meant to her. So I genuinely don’t understand why the writers kept trying to push the opposite idea at certain moments.

Ummm… if I remember correctly, he was just a replacement for the original Black Noir, who couldn’t talk, and to avoid revealing that he was actually someone else, he wasn’t allowed to speak publicly so nobody would figure it out?

I hate that Frenchie and Kimiko are one of the ones that didn't get a happy ending :( they've always been the ones I cared the most about I also hate that we didn't get them together until this late into the series I was hoping they would actually survive

I agree. Even though their final scenes work really well emotionally and actually give their story a certain weight and tragedy, it feels to me like... it wasn’t really necessary.

But... To be fair, I never expected a completely happy ending here, so I kind of assumed that if we got a truly tragic ending, they would die together (because of comic books). So it actually ended up being something in between... 👀

Their story was built up for such a long time and even though there are beautiful scenes with them in S5... there’s also a lot of unnecessary nonsense, where we got confusing dialogue and weird moments of misunderstanding that, after everything they’d been through, just felt like bad writing. 🙄

Honestly, I kind of get the impression that the writers decided it would be “too sweet” if everyone got a happy ending, and the unlucky draw of who wouldn’t get one just happened to fall on them... which is such a shame, because to me they were the most interesting ship in the entire show and I loved their dynamic long before it turned romantic.

thoughts on the boys s5 episode 8 (finale - spoiler heavy below)

Frenchie's full name being Serge Emilien Les Saintes... wish Kimiko could've called him by his name when he was dying, but it's fine 😭

Frenchie's will and testament being like 70% about assholes kills me inside because just why, but whatever.

"But fear not. I am at peace, because for a moment, I knew Heaven on Earth. In your arms, mon coeur." Cue the waterworks 😭😭😭 heaven in her arms FRENCHIE 😭😭😭

Ryan really just clapped back on everyone this episode. VALID!!

Gen V rlly had no relevance whatsoever to the final season and now their show is cancelled....

"Butcher's wrong. You are not just a weapon. From the start, Frenchie saw who you were. And because he saw it, we saw it. Just because he's gone doesn't mean all that's gone, too." Petit Hughie 😭😭😭 Kimiko and Hughie friendship/bond has always been one of my favorite things in this show besides Kimchie.

ANNIE TOOK THE DEEP OUT!!! Or more like the sea creatures did, but she beat him up and threw him out to sea. When I tell ya'll how HAPPY I was that The Deep was FINALLY dead. The fact he still lived until the last episode still kills me, but at least he's dead now. AMAZING.

Kimiko not being able to blast Homelander, but then Frenchie appears as a vision/ghost and he's wearing the same shirt from the hospital? Where she had the dance dream sequence? And he looks just like he was in s1??? She even still signs to him.

"Rage is not what makes you strong. It has never been, mon coeur. It has always been yours." SOMEONE COME AND SEDATE ME!!! The way I sobbed??? Frenchie saw who Kimiko was from the very beginning and he believed in her and was there for her every step of the way. People calling this cringe, come FIGHT ME. This is what she needed, this was really a scene for her as a character. But anyways, I sobbed 😭😭😭

Lowkey Homelander dying and the way it happened... idk it was just lackluster. Like oh. Ok. Well there goes that. "...for my Becca." Ok I liked that.

Ashley being impeached RIP, but thank you Queen for helping when it was needed!!

Not them still giving Kimiko those types of lines even on the last episode 💀

Ryan is valid for not wanting to start afresh with Butcher. Butcher didn't treat him any better either. But RIP Terror.

Hughie being the one that kills Butcher, I mean honestly it's really fitting and a full circle moment tbh. It started with them and ended with them. Did I cry? Yes, I did. I may not have liked Butcher all that much in general, but still. He's with Becca now. But honestly, they didn't really need to kill him off...

MM basically adopting Ryan, THATS SO WHOLESOME!!

Kimiko dipped after the funeral and just said "bye." Lowkey wished she actually had a serious, but touching dialogue with the rest of The Boys, but ig not... I hope she will still keep in touch with them, especially Annie & Hughie since besides Frenchie, she's closer with them.

Everyone who deserved a happy ending, like MM, Annie and Hughie, got it EXCEPT Kimiko.

Kimiko in Marseille eating madeleines with Simone the bernadoodle 😭 someone take me out atp, because STOP IT 😭 her ending is bittersweet, but she's living the life that she wanted with Frenchie and that he sacrificed himself for her to do so. She's honoring him through that. I mentioned this before, but if it was the other way around, Frenchie would not be able to live without her. Kimiko can, she can live her life without him, but it won't be a happy one without him. I just hope she can live out her life and find happiness the way Frenchie hoped she could. Anyways this is making me too emo, I'm going to stop here now.

I think I need to write at least some kind of one-shot with Kimiko and Frenchie... and it ends up sweet, cheesy and ridiculously happy.
