Out of the frev films I've watched so far (not that many actually), 'La terreur et la vertu' 's Robespierre had the saddest death (at least to me) but 'Saint-Just et la forces des choses'?? That felt horrific. That was gore of my comfort character.
The first and second time I watched, when they showed that scene of him on the table in the CSP, I saw that bleeding purple thing under his mouth, my brain filled it in and I was like "oh! its a bandage in his mouth to stop him from bleeding so badly from his jaw" and it took me to the third rewatch until I squinted, audibly GASPED and went "oh shit that's his actual jaw" WHY WAS IT LOPSIDED WHY WAS HIS CHIN ON THE WRONG SIDE??? The makeup was so good did pierre vaneck have to break his actual jaw for this role omfg?? And when they pulled off that bandage to execute him and it was fucking. hanging??? fuck the thermidorians omg
i still make faces thinking about it i can't imagine what it was like for the real Robespierre
