"I'm sorry," Hizashi replied, voice far softer than usual. "The doctors said they'll have to wait a while before they can give you anymore painkillers." His fingers tapped nervously against his directional speaker, though the movements were sluggish and stiff. He had pulled a chair up to the side of Souma's bed, and was sitting as close as possible to the boy.

Hizashi was thankful that his glasses would be able to hide the severity of the bags under his eyes. He had spent far too long crying in the waiting room, and now he was paying the price. "Other than that," his eyes fell on the nasty wound on Souma's face, "Do you feel okay? Is there anything I can do for you?"

In the back of his mind, he knew he had to ask why Souma had left. It was a heavy topic, but he needed to know, and they needed to go over things. Hizashi wanted this to work. He loved the kid way more than he could believe. Souma was a good kid. He just.. didn't have any good role models in his life before now.

Atsuhiro narrowed his eyes as he peered at Souma. "Did you do the stabbing, or were you stabbed?" He shouldn't have to ask, but Souma wasn't exactly being very specific.

"If it's the latter, I have a medical kit around here somewhere." Thank goodness for his basic medical knowledge. It had come in handy many times during this particular career.
