"VIEW FROM NOTRE-DAME DE FRANCE" Saint-James Way - Camino de Santiago - Saint-Jacques de Compostelle Day 1 de my Camino was a short and eventless day during which I realized I wasn’t in the great shape I thought I was. At 7:30am I went to the mass in the cathedral, where the Archbishop held a mass for the pilgrims’ blessing. Then, after a leisurely breakfast, I was on my way. The first hill after Le Puy almost “killed” me. I decided to stop at a gite in Bains, about 14,5km away. Not a great start... The photo you see here, is that of a couple of families I met the morning after in Montbonnet (Bains). With their kids and donkeys they rented for a week or two, they were walking part of the Stevenson’s trail. Robert Louis Stevenson was in his late 20’s when he went walking with a donkey called Modestine in the Cévennes. Out of this journey Stevenson wrote one of his first book: “Travel with a donkey in the Cévennes” (1879). It is considered a pioneering classic of outdoor literature (source Wikipedia). _____________________ #rlstevenson #lepuyenvelay #saintjamesway #stevensontrail #caminodesantiagodecompostela #cheminsdecompostelle #saintjamesway2016 #stjamesway #camino #everydaycamino #caminodesantiago #caminodesantiago2016 #pilgrimage #pilgrimage2016 #donkey #caminofrances2016 #camino2016 #ultreïa #ultreia #buencamino _____________________ @everydaycamino @le_puy_en_velay @lepuytourisme @pilgrim.es @_caminosantiago _____________________ #france #france🇫🇷 #visitfrance #travelinfrance #frenchtraveler _____________________ #iphone6 © April 18, 2016 William Lesourd ___THANKS FOR ACCOMPANYING ME ON THE CAMINO___ (à Le Puy-En Velay, Auvergne, France)
