These Questions are the result of suggestions from the previous iteration.
This category may include suggestions made too late to fall into the correct earlier time grouping. Basically, I'd already moved on to human history, but I'd periodically get a pre-homin suggestion, hence the occasional random item waaay out of it's time period, rather than reopen the category.
In some cases a culture lasted a really long time and I grouped them by whether it was likely the later or earlier grouping made the most sense with the information I had. (Invention ofs tend to fall in an earlier grouping if it's still open. Ones that imply height of or just before something tend to get grouped later, but not always. Sometimes I'll split two different things from the same culture into different polls because they involve separate research goals or the like).
Please add new suggestions below if you have them for future consideration. All cultures and time periods welcome.
The Alchemist. Art by Rubi Do Trinh, from the Star of Inanna Tarot.
𒌋𒐼 The Alchemist 𒊕𒋗𒁄 One of the rituals associated with Inanna is known as the Head Overturning. This is a rite where Inanna grants one of her temple staff, known as the PiliPili, the gift of choosing the identity they feel they are within. This ritual is what we see illustrated in this card. One of the main aspects of Inanna that drew me in was her close association to Queerness. Not only were people of all expressions and identities welcome in her temples, but Inanna herself was also gender queer - there are hymns to Inanna where she clearly fluctuates between “male” and “female” gender expressions. Even more importantly, agendered beings are an essential aspect of her ascension to power, since they responsible for resurrecting her when she goes to the Underworld. You might wonder how this connects to this archetype, more widely known as Temperance? For us, more than this idea of a middle ground, this card is about alchemy and transformation. Your life is like a baking recipe - you must find the right amounts of each ingredient in order for everything to come together into a balanced final result. In this case, we see how Inanna facilitates the alchemy of the PiliPili. In the same way, we can also facilitate alchemy within our own lives. What do you need to transform in order to move into your own greatness? The Cuneiform is: 𒊕𒋗𒁄 saĝ šu bala: Head Overturn/Change, transform
