It reads exactly like a religious standard that's impossible to meet, a girl who's realized she's gay and develops resentment towards the church because of it's homophobic teachings and then said church slamming the door on queer joy, the one thing she wanted, because it's "not God's way".

In seminary rn and my teacher asked, "Is there anyone we can pray for?"

Someone commented that their great uncle isn't doing well and could use some help.

My teacher then responded that the church recommends that we mostly keep away from praying for people we don't know as well as a group, so he can pray for his great uncle personally but we wouldn't do it in class. He said that parents and such are a different situation but ward members and other people that are more distant we shouldn't/don't really pray for in class.

Why? Why ask if people need blessings if you're not even going to pray for the people in need? Shouldn't we pray for those that need it, no matter if we know them or not? What about loving one another and being like Christ? Would he turn someone away from blessings because he simply didn't know them very well?

I'm sick of the church and it's conflicting doctrine. I want out, but I have just a few more months to go before I won't have to associate anymore. I can make it.
