Designer, stylist, model, and cat-mom Stella lives and works in this small, very pink Brooklyn, New York City rental apartment.

Fashion is apparent as a decor theme even in the entry hallway, displaying her hat collection.

The hall is also decorated with her handmade hats.

The pillows are her own design. 

Stella says you can make the shabbiest apt. look incredible with the right styling.

She has toys all over the house.

Sophie’s a carpenter and this is her Barbie pink inspired Brooklyn apt. Look at the borders she made for the cabinets and the island.

In the living room, there’s a creamy sofa she found on Facebook Marketplace; a vintage mirror with an ’80s-era swoop. She calls the sunny nook near the window, the cats living room.

Her waste-not philosophy extends to newly bought things, too. As her style evolves, so will the apartment, but she doesn’t see the color changing anytime soon.

She bargained with her landlord to downgrade to a mini fridge, which she prefers over the regular-size one that was previously floating in the kitchen and blocking the natural light.

In her bedroom, she fashioned a wire grid from Home Depot into a one-of-a-kind headboard. “I could only buy a pack of three, so I have one in the woodshop to hang tools and the other in the studio, which I use as a jail to keep my cats out,” she explains.

“I don’t really buy anything new,” she says. “It’s just hard for me to wrap my mind around that as a designer, and especially in New York, where you see all the shit that gets thrown away on the street daily.

Conversely, Sophie says, “I already feel like I’m producing furniture that unfortunately could end up in a landfill one day—hopefully not! So in my own space, I try to be cautious and only go to Goodwill for dishes and things.”
