Aaarrrrrr, pirate AU for my dear hansry 🏴☠️🧐
Pirate! Xavier x gn!pirate!Reader [not proofread] this is based off my au I created here Plot: You had joined a pirate crew that was owned by the Association, now this was your first time going on a mission at sea. @3ardnpc thought you would enjoy~ also may be slightly ooc but its finee- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The waves were fast as they slammed into the sides of the wooden ship causing the ship to move back and forth as you grip onto the sides, your stomach churning as you are trying to get use to the rhythm of the waves and boat.
As you were trying your best to not let your breakfast come out, the rest of the crew moved behind you, carrying out the supplies to the back of the ship to store, refilling their ammo or sharpening their swords - most had already gotten use to the movement and feeling of sea sickness.
Some newer crew members - such as yourself - held onto the sides to try and get use to the sudden shift off solid stable ground before they headed to do their work.
You had to take a deep breath and slowly loosened your grip from the wooden frame and headed towards the deck, grabbing yourself one of the crates that hadn't been moved yet.
As you attempt to lift the object off of the ground, it barely moved as you pulled it up. What the hell?? You stare at the box to move and push the lid to the side to see what was settled inside that would make this so heavy.
Black balls filled it the wooden crate to the brim before it hit you on why no one touched it yet. Cannon balls. The heavy ammo had to be carried down the stairs at the back of the ship and with the harsh waves moving the ship so much any slip up of dropping it could break- no SHATTER your foot. No wonder why no one had decided to pick it up yet.
Now, committed to this, you grabbed one side of the crate, you attempted to tug it along the ground of the ship, with seeing even the slight movement of the crate, it gave you some confidence to start tugging it slowly along towards the other end of the ship.
As other crew members walked by, some looked with pity at that being your job while others didn't seem to spare you a glance. Yet you couldn't focus on that, you needed to move this box out as fast as you can.
"Do you need some help." Hearing a voice you glance up to see a set of blue eyes watching you. A bandana pushes parts of his hair back - yet keeping his bangs in his face as part of his silvery blonde hair was braided onto the side. He was tall with fair skin that looked like it would burn rather than tan in this sunny weather. You've seen his face before. Yet you didnt know his name yet. Before you had gotten onto the ship.
You carried the barrel containing apples towards the wooden board that was the only way to get onto the deck of the ship. Planting it down to catch your breath for a moment, your eyes zoned out onto the surrounding area of the town.
Your eyes landed onto a figure settled underneath a tree. His silvery blonde hair gently swaying in the wind. His eyes were shut as he seemingly was resting. His attire clearly reflected that he was a pirate with his white shirt and layered blue attire that would reflect the Associations clothing - yet aspects of his was clearly modified to suit his style.
You could only wonder why he was sitting there and not helping with the supplies before one of your older co-workers called you out to continue carrying your barrel of food.
As you were about to deny his offer, the sudden jolt of the boat caused you to stumble a bit. Clearly you were unable to take this case down the stairs alone. So you slowly nodded. "Yes please.."
The blonde male nods as he lifts the one side of the crate with ease, allowing you to lift the other side - yet he carried most of the weight of the crate. The two of you walked sideways towards the door with the crate in the middle separating you.
The two of you were mostly silent as you carried the crate, you could only glance at him. To admire his softer pretty-looking face. How his bangs framed his face and how soft his lips looked.
He seemed to notice your stares and glances back at you. "Yes?"
"What's your name?" You couldnt help but blurt out suddenly. He didnt seem to expect that sudden question but he smiled gently towards you.
"Xavier." You nod your head a bit, repeating the name softly to yourself so you could remember it. "What is your name?" Xavier would ask you finally.
"Oh. Its...." You would tell him your name and he nods his head, repeating your name as well to ensure he got it right. You could feel your heart slightly flutter at hearing his sweet voice saying your own name.
As you reached the stairs, he went first so he was walking backwards as you walked down the stairs. You directed him the best that you were able to before the two of you finally reached the bottom of the stairs and placed down the box of ammo nearby the cannon allowing you to finally rest.
You glance at the cannon before glancing towards Xavier again who turned his head towards a different direction.
"So Xavier..." He glances back towards you.. You could feel your voice want to disappear for a moment. You wanted to ask him why he was resting outside under the tree earlier. But before any words could come out of your lips again, the ship jolted suddenly, causing you to stumble.
Before you knew it, you were planted into Xavier's chest for a moment as he grabbed you from falling over from the sudden movement. He glances down towards you.
"Are you okay?" You just nodded your head before calls were made from above.
"An Aether afflicted creature is attacking! All hands on deck!" Your captain calls out to everyone. You could feel Xavier's arms move off of you as he steps back.
"Stay down here, its dangerous." As you wanted to argue, the ship was hit by again causing you to stumble and grip onto Xavier's arm for a moment to catch yourself.
He checks you were alright and standing before he had to head back to the deck, leaving you.
You felt the boat shake again and moved to grab onto the cannon that was in the room, half of it was poking outside the ship. You covered your mouth for a moment trying to get use to the feeling of the jolting movements.
You glance at your hands, seeing the slight shake in them as you took a deep breath. You were out here and joined a pirate crew so you could find the Aether Core. Yet here you were hiding out in the ship feeling sick.
How would a pirate like you find the mystical mysterious Core if you were just hiding out here. You took a deep breath once again. You had to get over this sea sickness. No way in hell would you be able to be a pirate to find the aether core if you didn't get over this.
You pulled yourself up towards the staircase again, getting up the stairs you would only be faced what would be considered a beast.
The large tentacle creature was slamming down each tentacle onto the ship causing the ship to shift and jolt. You grabbed onto the side of the wall as you watched your crewmates use their pistols or muskets to shoot towards the beast as small bullet wounds opened up, yet the tentacle beast would slam down a tentacle causing some to stumble and move away causing struggling to regrip their guns to aim.
Your hand moves towards the pistol on your hip, tugging it out of the casing to try and aim towards the beast yet your hands were shaking as you attempted to aim. As you move to shoot the beast, you saw a swift movement.
Xavier was swinging on a rope as a cutlass was in his hand, he sliced the beast causing a painful noise to escape the beast as it moved back slightly. Xavier would grab onto the climbing rope on the side that would lead up to the crow's nest on the top as he waited for another moment to move.
The beast moved closer again giving Xavier a chance to move and swipe at the beast again, yet this time it dodged against Xavier swinging its tentacle towards Xavier where he just would swipe at the tentacle but it just caused the rope to swing more viciously - causing no damage to the beast before Xavier barely managed to grab at the climbing rope.
You glance towards the beast as its tentacles moved more erratically as it was hit by Xavier. The tentacles moved fast up and down causing the ship to gain larger dents into the floor and rocking the ship more and more.
The more the beast moves, the faster the ship will sink. You glance towards the beast. You had to aim for the face, seeing your teammates shooting at the tentacles, it didn't harm the creature that much.
You glance towards Xavier. You put your gun into the holt before you ran in to the deck. As the tentacles moved fast up and down, you slipped beneath a few before you managed to grab the climbing rope. You started to climb up towards Xavier as he swung again around to try and swipe at the beast. You noticed him on his way back and used one of your hands to wave towards Xavier.
"Xavier!" You shouted to watch his head turn towards you. "Pick me up!"
You couldnt see his face fully - and how he hesitated to pick you up. Yet he grabbed onto the climbing rope again, putting his sword away before holding his hand down towards you, pulling you up.
"Xavier. I have a plan. If you harm the tentacles, it doesn't seem to affect the beast. So we need to aim for its face."
"Yes, but it keeps moving back when I swing towards it." You nod and move your one hand - while the other still held onto the rope. You showed him your gun. "I got it fully stocked, 8 rounds. If you are unable to hit it, I'll shoot it."
Xavier glances at your gun."All you gotta do is let me hold onto you while you swing."
Xavier glances back up at you into your eyes and he nods a bit. "Alright."
It was a bit awkward to move, but your legs wrapped around Xaiver's waist as your chest pressed against his. Your one arm wrapped around his neck while your other gripped onto your gun - somehow you needed to aim and shoot with one hand.
"Lets go." Xavier's on hand gripped onto the rope before he dropped. The sudden movement caused a squeal to escape your lips as your face tucked into his neck slightly and your legs and arm gripping tighter as your body pressed against his as you were hoping to not fall.
After a moment you had to move your head- so you couldnt disappoint Xavier by not doing your plan. You look towards the beast as your hand grabs onto the pistol in your hand. You tried to aim and shoot yet the first round misses. You silently swear before trying again as the rope swings back, the second round finally hitting into the cheek of the beast. Xavier grabs back onto the climbing rope. "Good job." He whispered to you softly before he swung off again.
This time you managed to not stuff your head into Xavier's neck as he swung. Xavier's hand that previously rested on your waist moved to reach for his cutlass again and swung towards the beast, slicing its other cheek as you aimed and shot the beast's eye.
The shrieking escaped the beast as it moved back more and more. Tentacles leaving off of the boat as Xavier continued to swing towards the beast with you making shots towards it. As you sat with a final bullet. You managed to aim and shoot it's forehead, causing the beast to fall back crashing into the sea as the wave of water from it's body collapsing caused the boat to get covered in a layer of water, you and Xavier not being able to escape it either as you were soaked while hanging on the rope.
You took a deep breath and sighed as you were glad that chaos was over. You glance back to Xavier, only noticing how you were so close to him as you could feel his breaths on your face. He would slowly swing his body back and forth to make the rope move, pressing against your body so you could feel his warm as he reached and grabbed onto the climbing rope again.
You would climb off of his body, the wave of cold wind hitting your wet body you couldnt help but shiver a bit. You glance towards him, you could only notice now that his jacket and sleeveless sweater had been discarded before he had gotten up onto the rope so his white shirt was mostly clear, and you could see underneath it. So you just turned your head upward to pretend you didnt notice his body.
"Good work." Xavier told you and smiles a bit, his bangs sticking to his face as he moved to tug off the wet bandana from his hair. "I wouldnt have been able to without you..." He softly spoke before he headed down, with you following after.
"Thanks for saving our butts Xavier" "That was so cool of you guys."
The crew members praised the two of you as you came down from the rope. Some crew members had ran inside to grab Xavier's coat to hand off to him.
Xavier glances at his dry coat and places it over your shoulders. It was slightly [bigger/smaller] than your frame, even if the jacket lacked the sleeves like his sweater, it still made you feel warmer than before, though even if your face wasn't covered it did turn a bit warm from his actions.
"Good job crew." Your captain Jenna congratulated each of you. "With that over, we need to start the clean up. After you all dry off and change."
Her eyes glance over towards the pair that did the most work. "Especially you two. Good work."
You nod and smile a bit, you could feel your shoulders relax a bit though with the suddden wave hitting the ship you grabbed onto Xavier to balance yourself.
The two of you glance at each other before you sulk silently.
You will never get over this sea sickness will you?
