AITA for backing out of my friend(?)’s idea to torture a… creature??
A lot to explain here so bear with me.
I’m a pirate, obviously, and everything was going fine on the faction isles til a couple months ago. We had a weird run in with this weird purple stuff that we call the corruption, and that caused some problems. We managed to get away (well most of us) but when we got back home we found this creature thing on the island. It seemed friendly and all but it was kind of unnerving because we didn’t know what it was and it was the same color as the corruption. Some people were fond of it, others not. I had my suspicions but kept quiet.
however there was another pirate that was not quiet about it. This guy, who I’ll call BB, was super hostile to the creature, and would shoot and scream at it every time he saw it. (Side note: nobody has any idea about where BB came from. And he makes fun of Herons a lot)
Anyway, one day BB approached me in private, and said that he was forming a special crew to get rid of the creature once and for all. After a couple of meetings, we agreed on capturing it and taking it somewhere private to interrogate; I was curious about it and its purpose on the island.
We successfully kidnapped the creature and took it to a cell to question it. At first, I psyched myself up into acting tough to get answers. But BB started getting me worried. He would light it on fire, and say a certain name that obviously upset it over and over. I played along but it felt weird.
That’s when suddenly two more friends burst in and asked us what we were doing. They were both fond of the creature, and demanded we let him go. BB started yelling at them, but I felt horrible. I felt like I'd gotten carried away, so I broke open the cell and let the creature go.
That’s when BB got really upset. He started yelling at me, saying I was weak. I tried to talk to him, but he just got mad and stormed off, saying something about doing it all himself or can’t trust people or something. I’ve heard from others that he’s been meaner than ever.
I don’t know whether what I did was right, so I’m asking yall.
