The Voya Nui Resistance (Reunited)
The past 300 years have been almost like living in a dream for the matoran of Voya Nui. Their lives had been so filled with despair for so long; the hellish trials of Karzahni, the starvation on Voya Nui, the perils of Mahri Nui. The Reign of Shadows practically blended right in for them. But suddenly the great rejoining happened, and the children of Karzahni were free. They could go where they pleased, do what they wanted, meet new people of all kinds, and they rarely had to worry about starvation or natural disasters anymore. It felt unreal.
The former members of Voya Nui Resistance were in shock. They had spent the last few months becoming heroes by necessity, but now they could actually relax. For a while they moved together as one... clinging to those bonds they might never have formed if they hadn’t endured such hardship together. But gradually, reluctantly, they went their separate ways.
Velika was the first to go. Agitated by something, and apparently not as attached to his comrades as he had pretended to be, he disappeared overnight during the Reign of Shadows and hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Kazi found some peace and quiet in a little village in the White Quartz mountains. Dalu was struck by her transformation into a Toa and went to train in another village; Balta followed her for a while, but was similarly called to duties elsewhere. Only Garan and Piruk stayed close to each other: they both settled Tidal city, like so many other matoran.
After her expulsion from the toa order in her village, Dalu decided to go and visit Garan and Piruk while she figured out what to do next. They were happy to let her live with them for a while. But with the rise of Onezu’s empire, the three have fled the city and met up with Kazi in the wilderness. The three matoran plan to make their way to Kazi’s village or Ackar’s refugee camp and hide there until it is safe to return to the city. But the closer they get to safety, the less at ease they are with this decision. Yes, they are matoran. Weak, malformed matoran at that. Hiding and waiting is the sensible thing to do.
But was it what they did all those years ago on Voya Nui?
It’s been kind of a rough week for me, so I didn’t really have time to write and edit a big OC post. Have some kinda crappy photos of official sets.
I’ve already said this many times here and on @lekorojams, but I love the voyatoran. They’re pretty much my favorite group of characters in the canon. Not just for the characters either. Don’t ask me why, but for all their faults there’s something about the sets that’s always made me happy. Yes I know that none of this makes any sense at all.
Obviously, I wanted to include the voyatoran in ROO in some way, hence Toa Dalu (my favorite voyatoran). I hesitated at first to bring ALL of the voyatoran in but... I ended up indulging myself. So the gang’s all here. Velika, of course, couldn’t make it because he’s off having fun fun murder times (or maybe he’s in jail. I don’t really know). Balta... you’ll see.
I’ll have an actual MOC to show you next Friday.
