Ok I spent so long trying to find the right song for this. There are more Lana Del Rey songs I could choose. There’s Don’t Blame Me by TS of course. But I’m settling on Romeo & Juliet by The Killers.
There are possibly other songs by The Killers to use (one of my fave bands of all time) (Runaways?) because they are from Nevada and sing a lot about like yearning and small towns ever and the lyrics aren’t a 1:1 match because Jake and Bradley stick together the whole time but this song is very.
The brown and deep red tones of old motels and hazy empty roadside diners and driving in the mustang down a desert road with the windows down. It’s very much a song for their softer moments when it’s just the two of them, and hints at a sort of tragedy that befalls lovers.
And I haven’t written shit for this but from what I did write I like this:
“Did ya have to call him handsome?” Bradley grumbles as he grabs the money off the table with one hand and Jake’s hand with the other, pulling him from the room and running out the door before the jerks are able to pick themselves up from the beer stained floor.
“Aw, baby, you know I only have eyes for you.” Jake coos as they race down the stairs, skipping two at a time.
