Oh god, I did not expect anyone to think of Pidge and Lotor as a ship! And I must admit that sounds interesting :D Although I wonder what it would be called ... Lodge? Lopidge? Pidglor? Still, I was wondering if you have headcannos about this unusual ship

Right now it’s Pitor, not sure exactly what the mixed letters could be Pidgor, Lodge? It is an interesting twist to me too, if it happens. I actually wouldn’t mind the idea of a Science based Lotor falling for pidge as a whole. It would be something very different and unique I think and go an interesting way in both their development. Given that Pidge would probably be someone who understands some of his issues, like Keith would as well. She could probably help him in accepting a part of himself, and not be so worried about being not part of a team. I have a lot of thoughts on their dynamic. Namely one where you have Pidge helping Lotor learn more about himself and herself learning more about the world around them. Oh I have a lot. I”m working on a fan fic about it. :)

I'm curious, do you see Pidge/Lotor as a possibility in the series?

Whoo boy this is a hard one to answer. Yes and no. On the one hand it’s a Y7 show so they’re building it along like Avatar, unlike Korra where the romance was part of the story, this one is robot fights first, friendship second, romance as a third or fourth thing. So I’m sure that if there is any romance it’s going to be subtle (such as the slight hits with Allura and Keith with her hug and their time together). However, having Lotor and Pidge as a pairing would be something totally outside of the Original, and it would be something that would place this Voltron on a different area then it’s previous versions. So actually I can kind of see it for a few reasons. 1. We know that Lotor (if the Stranger is him -although that’s the most likely seeing the colors that the guy was wearing unless it’s a bait and switch with Merla in which case…um…why?) was looking inside the worm for the same stuff as Keith and Hunk, which means that he knows what that stuff is and is probably building something to teleport his ships. Now that to me means that he’s one for science over Magic, so you have that connection there. 2. Lotor’s past is going to have to be something interesting. In his previous version he was the son of a Altean woman and Zarkon. Given the color of his skin and his height and the similarities to Allura’s helmet, I would say that he at least has some idea of his past, and probably either lost his mother or she’s missing. This would be an interesting connection to Pidge who’s trying to save her family, and he’s someone who probably has “lost” his father in that he’s become obessesed with Voltron. Another interesting connection. 3. Would possibly be the fact that Katie would be something different then Allura or Romelle. Previously he fell for both girls because of their similarities to his er…mom, or in the Voltron version, they were really stunning and rejected him and so he got into the idea of the chase. Katie is a spitfire, as we’ve seen, and someone who could probably meet him barb for barb which would and could be something interesting and intense. Given Lotor’s old personality, this could be a case of either “I want her for her brain” or a case of “I want her because she’s someone that will say no to me and a challenge.” So there’s that. Until we have some better idea of the way they’re going to make him, I’m not 100% sure it will happen in cannon. But it would be something fun to play around with within head cannon. :)
