She's this beautiful sunshine of a character in a setting that is definitely built to like beat a person down till they're ash and rubble. But here she is still being incredibly soft and sweet, she's got such fun interactions with people and I just adore her.

It's a crisis . It's finally happened and she's feeling things , things that she didn't have the right to feel . The text had gone through to Ally while she laid on the floor of her living room , staring up at the ceiling , contemplating if she should throw herself off the roof of the ED or if she'd have to go into work the next night .

❝ Come in , ❞ Igraine called out , voice full of anguish . Maybe , she was a little dramatic , but god she felt like the world was ending .

She didn't even pick her head up when she finally said it , ❝ I like him . Oh , god I like him . I think about him all the time and I've developed a serious unhealthy attachment to him and it's not going away like I thought it would—I find myself attached to people who are nice to me . . . but it's sticking this time . . ❞

"stop, touching it." evvie gently swats at ally's other hand. "okay no one is winning, this isn't the miserable olympics. you and emma both got hurt, and both incidents are unacceptable. cass is checking out emma, dana ordered a full workup on her, so i'm here checking on you."

"just tell me before you do it. like . . . count to three, then poke." andrea muttered with her eyes closed as she laid on the gurney in south twenty-two. the needle-stick itself had been minor. there was an uncapped needle left in the bed she was clearing. annoying more than anything. the follow-up bloodwork, however ? cruel. anything involving needles being stuck in her instantly made her queasy. "actually, just do it. i don't wanna know."

Fucking handicap parking was again taken and not by someone with a card. It wasn't really an issue, well it was when your balance was not natural and the streets were icy. He felt lit as soon as he had left the parking house. Most of the night he had avoided the ambulance bay since for him, the entrance was a death trap. Literally.

Jack thought himself careful when he met one of the ambulance outside, sadly as the gurney rolled in, he made quite the slip backwards. His prosthesis had no adherence and his balance went with it. He hit the ground harder than he would have liked. He felt his back be cracked into place and groaned. Fantastic. He also knew that his prosthesis had gotten moved too. He sighed and lifted a hand to his face. Fuck that hurt, at different points. Was something broken, probably not.

He literally counted backwards until someone would either laugh or be panicked to get to him. He hoped the first one, as the second one was just an awkward affair. Medstudents and younger residents tended to panic. The floor was nicely cool though. He did not feel like getting up, e had a feeling his body would scream at him if he got up. This was fine, he could live there on the floor now.

This being the night shift, of course, the atmosphere completely different in the early hours of the morning as Sylvie let herself fall down into one of the empty desk chairs. Interacting with people who's alcohol level was bordering on fatal was difficult enough, but when almost every patient seemed like they'd waltzed in from the bar it was almost impossible to hold a conversation with them.

"So just, um," he paused, grimacing as a small but familiar bolt of pain lanced through his lower back. For a second, he figured it was his spine was kicking off, but then his heart sunk as he realised why that particular cramp felt so practiced. Fucking seriously?

"... would you excuse me? For a minute?" he said, quieter, all the confidence having leeched out of his body. "Just need the bathroom."

For a long moment Mel just stands there, holding her hands up as she looks down at the mess on the floor. 

Some weird shit had happened in here, she knows this, she’s seen it, but even by the emergency room standards…it’s weird. 

“I have…no idea.” 

Really. She didn’t. 

A small tilt of her head to the side she watches the invertebrate creature slowly, ever so slowly, crawl down the hall. 

“You know worms don’t have eyes…”
