@pittres gets a dad robby starter
It hasn’t been easy these past few weeks. Getting into a routine of not being at work, having so much time on his hands. Baby Jane Doe helps a lot, she keeps his mind busy, even when he feels like he’s at his wits end.
If someone said he’d be middle aged and having a baby, he would have laughed in their face, but he’s only had her for a few weeks and she’s got him wrapped around her little finger. This fostering thing? It might turn out to be adoption.
It’s late. Robby can’t sleep and neither can the baby. He’s got so much to think about, so much to do. Appointments he needs to make so he can get some fucking help, appointments for Jane Doe. It’s so much, it’s overwhelming.
The stress of the ED he can handle most times. Taking care of a baby and being so fucking overwhelmed at once? He feels like he’s at his wits end. Thankfully, Frank has been here to help him when he’s not visiting with his own kids.
What time is it? It must at least be midnight and he doesn’t want to wake Frank. He has to work another day shift and Robby knows well how much exhaustion comes out of working shifts and being woken up.
He tries not to wake Frank up but the baby won’t stop crying. He looks over at Langdon when he comes into the kitchen where he’s warming her a bottle up just in case she’s hungry, rocking the little baby in his arms gently in an attempt to soothe her crying.
It doesn’t work very much.
“Did we wake you? Sorry – I can’t get her to stop crying.”
