kidding, I know I'm extremely late to the party, but I just watched it for the first time today. I cried. I felt like I knew Renee, she truly seemed like a kid I could know. She resonated with me from the moment she came on screen. I understood her and I feel like she understands me. It's so good. I cried.

And they consulted autistic people in the creation. And they didn't cite or consult with Autism Speaks. And they cast a real life nonverbal autistic person to voice the main character.

I love that film so much. I cried while watching it. It was just so good man.

Watched Pixar's short film "Loop" and I actually sobbed for a while.

Here we have an autistic character. VOICED BY an autistic person.

How often do autistic people get non-ableist representation? How often do black, female, non-speaking autistic people get representation *at all*?

The answer is never.

When I'm watching something like this; these are the very rare times when I don't feel terrified for every autistic person alive.

Can 2020 and the years ahead please continue this recent trend of autistic characters being played by actual autistic actors? Both Pixar's new short 'Loop' and Freeform's new show 'Everything's Gonna be Okay' have autistic characters played by people who are actually autistic. And it works so well. An actual autistic person playing an autistic character just tends to feel more authentic because they actually know what it's like to be autistic. And it gives autistic actors a chance to shine. I really hope this proves to be a new trend going forward and we start to see more of it.
