The anti-mask brain rot is penetrating the hospital system in a terrifying fashion.

Masks are necessary for accessing central lines, and more and more nurses are starting to have issues with wearing a mask during STERILE PROTOCOL.

These lines are going right into our hearts and nurses are throwing tantrums about having to cover up their faces for 5 minutes.

This has not happened at my infusion center personally but I have mutuals and friends who have had to beg their nurses to put on the mask that literally comes in the sterile access kit.

i feel like a lot of being disabled is just trying to find things that are stimulating and within your energy levels that dont include staring at a screen for 10 hours straight and only being able to like. read a book. and nothing else.

More people need to be comfortable admitting they don't know something. It is more harmful for you to give a wrong answer than it is to say "I'm not sure" or "I don't know"

Disabilities should be present in all fiction. I've read almost four hundred books since getting back into reading in 2024 and only one of those books featured a character with Crohn's disease. I only know of one other. I can only think of one author doing explicit, said in the novel, autistic representation. An increase in disability representation is fucking important!!!!!!

when people, politicians and news outlets talk about how more people are out of work and getting sick more often, they love to talk about all sorts of things - from laziness and entitlement to the way society is structured to burn people out without giving them the means to live well - and they love to ignore the elephant in the room: Covid.

Covid has been, and still is, a mass disabling event. Covid has made people sicker, weaker, more fatigued, more prone to illness. Covid has taken millions out of the workforce via death, disability and burnout and people aren’t an infinitely renewable resource.

Obviously the way we structure our society has a lot to do with it - as does the fact that Covid showed many of us that another way is possible, and then we were just asked to go back to normal as if nothing happened.

People are tired. People are sick. People are immunocompromised. People are unwilling to put up with this bullshit anymore. And why would we? Another way is possible.
