(Open) - Pixie Plates
The woods had a blurry filter that caused the twinkles through the leaves of the trees caused by the moonlight to sparkle even more than fireworks on the fourth of July. A lovely piano like trinket music could be heard filling the atmosphere and faceless happiness could be seen dancing around a a crisp illuminating pond. A pointed finger touched the water below and a rhythmic ripple expanded from the slightest touch until the movement calmed, or that was what usually happened. Suddenly the sparkling water turned a deep shade of red and shaped a dark shadowy creature in the reflection. The pond boiled with a rumbling motion and steam rose into the night air. An unimaginable beast on all fours took a paw towards the racing heartbeat. A hot wanting breath got too close for comfort and asked, ‘What are you?’
Ludivyn sat up and screamed from her dream. A scared hand clutched to her beating heart as she tried to gather her reality within her dorm room. After taking some time to calm her vivid nightmare and turn them into rational thinking, the fairy got herself out of bed and dressed to go to that struck her interest.
Arriving at the coffee shop, Ludivyn was greeted by a barista dressed in pastel colors and a friendly smile. The curious fairy looked for features that identify what type of fairy it was exactly and from which court, but it was a fraud, a human. Giving a few blinks at the question of what she wanted to order, Ludivyn had never had a drink before, except white wine which wasn’t to her liking. “Hi um, I- I’m not here for ordering. But I passed here before and there was a girl singing. It was beautiful. I want to sing here!” Ludivyn told the employee before being pulled to the side for what she failed to know was an interview and audition. She was going to be Pixie Plates new Tinkerbell Tuesday coffee shop singer!
After landing the job and gathering some information, she hurried back to her room to ready herself and head back to the coffee shop once the moon hit.
Returning to Pixie Plates, Ludivyn was ready for her first performance on earth. Not understanding the opportunity, the fae relished the moment of having some interaction without having to give herself away.
The bubbly and nervous blonde stood on the relavated stage and the lights dimmed to smooth the busy room and Ludivyn sing a song she fondly held close to her heart from the 1950′s
Her blue eyes wandered around the staring faces. Some murmur could be heard. Then voices whispered in her thoughts, enough to almost stop her from saying the words that needed to be said for the song. ‘Who is she?’...’The last Tinkerbell had more stage presence than her’... ‘This coffee needs more sweetner.’...’At least there’s wifi here’...Ludivyn could feel her throat close up. She closed her eyes in hopes to shut out the crowd and erase the thoughts. The panicked pixie began snapping her finger to keep rhythm like how they use to do in performances that she had seen with Johnny. Soon the voices left and the singer was able to perform from the heart. Confidence began to reveal itself and soon the room went silent as the performer commanded their attention with the charm of the song. Opening her eyes, she connected with the first person she saw. Though the lights were dim, she still made them feel apart of the moment without them getting into her head as she focused on the snapping until the song ended.
Giving a generous bow as instructed, Ludivyn gave back the microphone and walked into the crowd to the corner of the room to gather her stuff. She picked up her bag and jacket, gave a wave to her new boss as they gave her a thumbs up, and turned to leave the building.
Ludivyn walked outside and could smell the fresh air after such an adrenaline rush. Taking a step towards campus she bumped into the person she connected with in the crowd and her bag fell to the ground, causing some books to spill from the open carrier.
“Oh! I’m so sorry! I didn’t even-...”
