FOTD #046 : pixie's parasol! (mycena interrupta)
the pixie's parasol is a species of agaric fungus in the family mycenaceae. this fungus appears in small colonies on rotting, moist wood in rainforests & beech or eucalypt forests !! it has been reported in australia, aotearoa, new caledonia & chile. ^^
the big question : can i bite it?? the edibility is unknown, but you should steer clear for safety. :-)
m. interrupta description :
"the caps of mycena interrupta range from 0.8 to 2 cm, & they are a brilliant cyan blue colour. they are globose when emergent & then become a broad convex as they mature, with the centre of the cap slightly depressed. the caps are often sticky & appear slimy looking, particularly in moist weather. the length of the stipe typically ranges from 1 to 2 cm long & 0.1 to 0.2 cm thick."
And so our mushroom druid has a few tricks to replace their sleeve!
I struggled to come up with character designs for Funguary so I decided to just make the mushrooms instead. First is my favorite, Pixie's Parasol!
Pallas's Cat finally finished! A special boy made for my man's big 40th last year <333 His favorite friend-shaped grump
Cuz he's my love-shaped grumpy 😌
My 4th (+ 5th, 6th & 7th) OC for Funguary! (Cornflower Bolete + Hairy Mycena + Podosepula Pusio + Pixie’s Parasol)
Once the heiress to a bandit empire, Cornelle has since distanced herself from her selfish past to instead pursue fungiculture. When she learned of Laicha’s quest to travel the land and smite evil, she left her farm in good hands before joining the young healer’s cause. Her weapon of choice - a nutrient-rich mahogany log - can be imbued with the magical properties of her tiny home-grown friends, the Goons.
A mushroom to rule them all | Un hongo para conquistarlos a todos
Mycena interrupta, also known as Pixie's Parasol is a beautiful, tiny mushroom that can be found in Australia, Chile, Argentina, and New Zealand. Although is part of the Mycena species, it’s not bioluminescent but... doesn’t need to be to show off.
A true treasure for our eyes. Out of a Ghibli movie!

forgot to post yesterday! Funguary Week 2 Day 7: Mycena (any) I chose Mycena Interrupta AKA Pixie’s Parasole. I’m really liking the slimy-shiny mushrooms. Pixie’s parasol might be psychoactive? Might also be edible? Who knows. Either way she’s too small to be useful for either purpose.
