Pandemic Perk: When I’m mentioned in a sermon there’s no one to turn and stare at me.
I’ve gotten way too good at doing that thing where I control my voice really well on the phone when dealing with a member of the clergy who is really frustrating me.
It’s a PK skill.
somewhere along the line i either intentionally or accidentally followed some like christian jesus saves-y account and the reason i don’t know how i came to be following them is that they literally never posted unTIL TODAYY and TODAY MY DASH HAS BEEN ENTIRELY BIBLE VERSES AND STUFF ABOUT SALVATION OVER BRIGHTLY COLORED WINE MOM MEME LOOKIN SHIT AND I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BUT IT HAS BEEN. SO. MUCH. JESUS. and being the good pastor’s daughter i’m not, i can’t unfollow it without a little bit of guilt.
I had a really sad realization yesterday that my teenage years as a pastor’s kid did more to prepare me for a ministry career than the 5 years and buttload of debt at college did.
but if i didn’t attend that really expensive college i never would have found the church i’m at and love
Mom: you need to start going to church. Even if you have to go to several before you find one you like.
What I heard: I should waste time and possibly let my mental health suffer trying to find a church that isn't homophobic, transphobic, pro-drumpf, etc.
I wonder if I can stay in the bathroom for the remainder of service without anyone noticing... Probably not. My mom would come and look for me.
I hate when my family drags me to church. I went every Sunday for 21 years. I shouldn't have to put up with this when I don't even live in this city anymore 😞
Last week at women’s breakfast at church, my mom said (referring to a cantankerous older woman who wasn’t there at the time), “That woman will drive me to drink!” This week at the knitting group (also at church), I accidentally used the word “shit.” This has not been a stellar week for our family. Did I mention that my dad’s the pastor?
