Storytelling Plan 2/6

I’ve chosen to do a story which covers the Glasgow Locavore Supermarket. Locavore is a social enterprise which aims to expand a great local food system which I will try my best to show through my final images.

As seen below, It is a 2 minute drive from where I live which is why there is no hassle for me to get there.

I went onto their website and used a contact form to get in contact with them and arrange my visits.

Group Shot One

This is the first of my three final group images for the places 2 brief. For this image I chose my background and shot with the fair of a speed light bouncing off of a reflector due to the minimal lighting conditions. I feel this works well and gives a nice light, however if I was to shoot this again I would be more careful of glasses and the reflection of the flash.

Storytelling Shoot

This morning we made contact sheets and had an editing workshop for our storytelling/climate change images where we selected the best ones by highlighting and circling them. I then printed my images and stuck them up on the wall so that everyone can have a look and give feedback through post-it notes. From the feedback I was given, I reckon I need to go back to shoot some portraits and some more close up shots as I have a variety of wide angle shots in my series of images. My plan will remain the same as this one however I will try to get as many different and more images i can.

Looking for Light Editing Workshop

We all laid out our Looking for Light images on A4 contact sheets and used post-it notes to give opinions and advice to our classmates to help with our images and vice versa along with editing tips.

Reading Photographs - Exhibition Visit

This image was taken on a digital camera as seen by the quality and colours. The image is in colour and square format which consists of a battery powered car which is being charged whilst parked on the side of the road in Glasgow. The image is also quite cropped in from the left side as only a small amount of the car can be seen from the back. The viewpoint is equal to the subjects as the photographer is trying to show the image through the public’s point of view and show the normality of battery powered cars in the future. There was no artificial light used as the image was taken in broad daylight. This work is presented in the Hillhead library where it is hung on the wall along with many others. The atmosphere of the image seems to be quite dull, almost as if pollution has taken over the world. This image is quite powerful as this is what the future will be like due petrol and diesel cars causing a lot of harm to our earth if we do not take any action now, which is why this image is important to be shown to the world and it’s people.I quite liked this work of Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert as it made me question a lot about climate change and I feel that this work should be seen by many others to help them understand this issue better.
