I never posted this??? So, an IRL friend has a Dungeons and Dragons campaign that's based on classic rock that I (Of course!) can't join now due to a schedule change. As I was pondering on a character I could make that wasn't already a JoJo character based on classic rock, it hit me. And here we have it... "Planet Queen". It's pretty much just Alien AU Dale looking to cause chaos and find a mate. The antenna were included because of a conversation with @hydrafancy that his hair forms antenna in the intro scene!
Song Review: Todd Rundgren - “Planet Queen”
Todd Rundgren must’ve struggled with how he wanted to handle Marc Bolan’s “Planet Queen.”
Rundgren’s contribution to AngelHeaded Hipster: The Songs of Marc Bolan and T. Rex, is a messy, stylistic mishmash that runs too long as it nears the five-minute mark. But he’s in super-strong voice and it would probably work well in the context of one of his Unpredictable concerts. As a tribute to Bolan, it comes off more like a poke in the eye.
Rundgren’s “Planet Queen” owes more to his own “Born to Synthesize” than Bolan’s original, as he infuses it with a formless intro, psychedelic strings, big-band jazz and 1940s-inspired female backing vocals.
