Dimorphos’s Tail
The SOAR Telescope took this image of the asteroid Dimorphos and Didymos 2 days after DART smacked into the moonlet Dimorphos to simply see if we could nudge a one day potential inbound asteroid out of harms way.
The resulting explosion was widely captured, but that then turned into a tail of material stretching out behind the two objects.
Now the real work is to be done in observing what exactly was the effect on the moonlets orbit, the resulting outburst was larger than expected, but that doesn't necessarily translate into more movement.
