so I remember reading a while back that part of the reason Venus is like it is, is because it doesn't have plate tectonics, its crust is just in one big piece, allowing pressure to build up and lots of big vulcanism yada yada yada
another thing is apparently the reason the Earth isn't like that is that early on in its development, after we got our moon but before life first formed, we got hit by a giant granite asteroid, much much bigger than the one that killed the dinosaurs, so big it cracked our crust breaking it into plates, but also floats on what we had which was mostly basalt
not that this should be seen as a suggestion for imminent action but like could we do that to Venus, find a really big granite asteroid, break some plates etc?
