The haul: Four fat parcels of Daiso 'Petit Block' bricks. There were three bags containing multiple finished projects in each bag, and one bag containing five unopened packages. Total cost to me was $18; since the bags are $1.75 each at a Daiso store and I counted 25 distinct projects, I saved quite a bit of money.

First thing I did was disassembled each structure and sorted bricks by size or function, which is the result you see above, and then sorted out three of the bags into the piles. Second thing, bagged the piles. Since I'm a believer in how LEGO marketed itself in the 1970s as an imagination toy without rules, I want some of that unstructuredness.

The first unopened bag is "Workers - Explorer and Archeologist", which contains face stickers for Livingstone and Stanley, and I'll figure out what I want to do with it because they contain big pith helmets. The fourth unopened bag is "Dog And Cat Friends - American Shorthair", which I felt the urge to make and it took about 20 minutes to construct.

Since I had the spare parts, I changed the cat's round eye pixels from black to clear red and the base from brown to light green. (I may have some clear blue round pixels that would be less alarming as eyes and more cat-like.) I did consider replacing the grey with tan and brown to make this tabby kitty a calico -- and a better one than what Daiso offers, which is just a white cat with one tan ear and one black ear.
