Absolute Plastic-Man?

been thinking about this recently so heres my idea:

just as Bruce is now working class, Plas is now middle class (as opposed to being raised in a poor catholic orphanage)

he's a worker's rights defence lawyer

after defending some employees against a corrupt owner (with ties to the mob) in a VERY high profile case, he was kidnapped, stabbed, shot and tortured for hours before being thrown into a vat of acid to dispose of the evidence

the acid didn't make him stretchy, it made his skin plastic but due to the extreme heat, it melted - disfiguring his face and body as he turned into an indistinguishable mess of plastic

but after a short while, it started to cool, and the shape of the plastic set

desperate, he walked into the night, begging for help - eventually, people started to call the police, and while Plas fled, he ran into Batman, who (of course) recognised him

eventually, the pair figured out that more heat could melt the plastic again and they were able to reshape Plas' face and body - once reset, Plas became indestructible and invincible

despite this, he was desperate to become normal again - so he sought down organisations with toxic waste/acid vats and threw himself into them after shutting down the operation via court

this made him stretchy, but horribly disfigured his face and body again and caused him to wrap himself in tight bindings to keep a humanoid shape - he quit his job, and became a shut in

Plas eventually became a hero after meeting his wife and encouraged him to use his weird abilities for good, since he could no longer do it via his lawyer job

(later found out that he was infertile bc of the acid and literally ripped off a bit of his body to form Luke. mpreg to the extreme)
