I’ve taken up an attempt at macrame plant hangers. But as you can see the thread I am using is significantly thinner. So far I am still on the learning curve and no where near complete the initial 25 cm spiral knots.
If you need me, I am facing a wall and literally counting to myself like a lunatic.

I got several cuttings of some type of schlumbergera the other day. I’ve never seen anything like it, and can’t find anything similar online. When I google schlumbergera with red leaves, all I get is pictures of plants that have leaves reddened by too much sun, while, I was able to view the entire adult plant as people were taking cuttings of it, and this doesn’t seem like sun effects - the segments are solid red all the way to the stem, no trace of green. I was show pictures of the flowers, and the flowers are bright red, though I haven’t got a picture to show you.
(if you submitted so pics in the text part they didn’t come through for some reason) Probably the usual S. truncata. I wouldn’t say no to the possibility though of the foliage being due to sun exposure or some other physical environmental cause. Some plants will show the colour end to end and not just on the tips, though not as common. The real test will be to see if the cuttings retain that colour as they root, grow, and mature. Looks really bold and pretty though! Like a Holly leaf dipped in a red sour candy lol.
February 20, 2020 Good morning from the wildest of cats! Every jungle has a little panther, and this is mine <3 He will walk over me to try and get to the window in the morning and catch some prime sunlight hours. I love the little munchkin so much!
Happy Easter~

Hi Kihaku Gato, was wondering if you knew any vegan fertilizers I could use for my plants? I've been using compost and hummus along with mycorrhizae and mulch, but do you think this is good enough or should I go for more?
Terribly sorry for my tardiness
I, honestly did not Vegan fertilizers were a thing (organic yes, but Vegan? Possible but I feel silly for not knowing it was a thing at all. Duh you don’t NEED bone/blood meal or animal manures to necessarily feed a garden, though very effective). Some fast googling brings up some results on products that sell as Vegan fertilizer, however I get a feeling most are niche sells so hard to come by to a point. I’d honestly check among some google results as well as other growers as they may know better than me (I’m the animal manure / synthetic fertilizer type grower, so sadly I’m not the best knowledge on Vegan ferts.),
However, if it’s anything like any organic-type fertilizers, what you’ve been doing should be pretty effective, save for the odd nutrient deficiencies that may pop up by surprise (isn’t common but it does happen. It’s why some farmers will do soil tests to check the nutrient distribution) but otherwise you should be fine. The fact you are going as far as using even mycorrhizae, says a lot about how much you’re covering on plant benefits/beneficials.
As a note another thing you can do if you’re able to is Cover Crops aka. Green Manure as a cheaper form of vegan fertilizer; crops specifically grown to be plowed down after growing to decompose into the soil with even more nutrition (some annual species of Legumes come to mind when I think of Cover Crops).
I hope at least a little bit of that helps you out.
My brain is reeling. You’d think this was some kind of plantblr shitpost edit BUT ITS NOT THIS IS ACTUALLY WHAT SHE IS SAYING TO THE OTHER. SHE’S SAYING ITS CAUSE SHE GETS NO PHOTOSYNTHESIS WHAT-
