Platonic Yandere 141 - Civilain Part 3
You had been napping in the tent for a couple of hours, getting woken up by the sounds of soldiers walking around outside, loud trucks coming and going and the medic waking you up to check on you.
The sleep wasn’t the best, and it certainly wasn’t what you needed. You sit up in your cot, the other civilians are gone, you wonder why you are the only one left. Where did they go?
You swing your feet over the edge of the cot, you carefully stand up. You get headrush for a couple of moments, colours dancing in the corners of your vision. You shake your head a little bit, your vision returning to normal.
Your head pounds, but you push it to the side as you walk out to the open flap of the tent. You peek out, looking around. There are heavily armed soldiers everywhere, the city is overrun with them.
You go back into the tent, pacing around a little bit. Your family must be worried sick. You’re sure that they’ve been blowing up your phone with calls and texts. Your phone is long gone by now, you have no idea where it is.
You stop pacing when you hear quiet voices outside of the tent. You crane your head to listen carefully.
“I don’t think they’ll take it well. Be careful.” One voice whispers, clearly trying to be quiet. They probably still think you're asleep.
“Someone’s gotta tell em. They can’t leave. They gave us valuable information, we can’t just let them go. They’ll be killed.” The other voice says, you recognize the second voice as John, the man who was asking you questions earlier. What is he talking about? Is he talking about you??
You sit back down on your cot, thinking over the whole situation, and you find yourself zoning out heavily. What does he mean you can’t leave? This can’t possibly be the procedure for this.
You jump a little in your seat as the flap suddenly opens, and John walks in. He has a comforting smile on his face as he comes over to you. There is a blonde woman behind him with short, pulled back hair.
“Hey, kiddo, how’s your arm?” He asks, stopping in front of you with his hands on his hips.
“It.. hurts.” You say quietly, he smiles a little bit, letting out a small huff of laughter. He sits down next to you, turning slightly to face you. He needs to tell you something you won’t like hearing at all.
“That’s to be expected.. medics told me it was a pretty bad fracture. You should be better in no time.” He pats your shoulder, trying to form some sort of connection so you don’t take the bad news badly.
You look up to the blonde woman and she gives you a smile, the kind you would give to someone as acknowledgment in passing. You look back to John.
“Look.. I gotta tell you something, you good to hear some bad news right now?” He says quietly, trying to seem as non threatening as possible.
“We can always give you some more time to recover, if you would like of course.” The blonde woman interjects after you are silent for several moments.
“My name is Kate, by the way. It’s nice to meet you, Y/n” the woman tilts her head as she smiles at you, holding out her hand to you to shake. You hesitantly reach out with your uninjured arm to shake her hand. Her handshake is firm and professional.
“I think you need some more time, you don’t.. look like you’re here right now.” John sighs, “I’ll get the medics to check you over again.”
Kate nods, leaving the tent to go grab a medic to look you over again.
“Where did the other people go?” You finally speak, looking back to John. He looks away for a second, deciding how to respond to you properly.
“They.. are on their way home right now. They’re ok.” He reassures you, turning back to you. Your face pinches up in a little bit of confusion. Why can’t you go home?
“Why.. am I not going home..?” You ask him carefully, he nods like he was expecting this question from you.
“Well.. you're not in the best shape right now. You’re not exactly ready to be shipped home.” He starts, turning more towards you. He’s trying to be gentle about his next words, he can tell that you won’t take it well.
“And.. uh.. you can’t really leave after you gave us some information. You could be a target now, you’re a liability. You understand?” He watches your reaction carefully, almost regretting telling you when he sees your face fall.
You look down into your lap, processing his words.
“Yeah..” you mumble automatically, not really understanding. How could telling them you were by a bookstore mean you’re a liability? Was it truly groundbreaking information?
“It really helped us, you know..” he leans forward a little bit, hands clasping together as he speaks. “We were able to find out who put the bomb near the book store, and where they went after that.”
He watches as a medic enters the tent, ready to look you over again. The medic has a warm MRE ready for you to eat if you feel up to it. The medic gives you the food first, as well as disposable fork
“You’ll be ok. We’ll get you a room on base, and you can decor however you want.” He tries to put a positive spin on the situation, but he can tell it’s not really helping much.
“Can I call my mom?” You ask him as a medic checks your vitals, first your pulse, then your pupil dilation either a pen light.
“I’m sorry, you can’t communicate with any of your family at the moment. They have been made aware that you are alright.” He says to you, standing up to get out of the medics way as the medic takes your blood pressure with a blood pressure cuff.
“Oh.” You say quietly, looking away from John for a moment.
“Hey.. it’s gonna be ok. It won’t be forever, I promise.” He says in a quiet voice to match yours.
“How long then?” You ask him, letting the medic take a look at the stickiness on your head, you wince as the medic cleans it with saline, then wrapping it up in clean bandages.
“I’m not quite sure yet.” Johns tells you honestly, a sympathetic look on his face. “We’ll worry about it later, ok? Get some rest. We’re gonna take you to base soon.”
You watch as he leaves the tent, he must be a busy man, always moving around. You start to eat, slowly chewing your food as you zone out again.
