On the new Radiostatic Amir soft-lore-drop and “Excuses and Lies seem to still be your specialty” + Vox looking angry after Al says that:

It’s a miscommunication trope I’m afraid. We know Vox was genuine and in love, and his business proposal sort of doubled as a confession which went over Alastor’s head. Alastor immediately panics internally, realizes (in his perspective) that the person he thought was a genuine friend and companion just wanted to use him for his power and, eventually, screw him over. So he reacts like that. Upon being rejected, and here we are not shown the aftermath on purpose, Vox does something that solidifies to Alastor that he was in prey position and Vox had wanted to take advantage of him the whole time they were friends. I dare say he even feels betrayed. He doesn’t see the tantrum Vox threw as a reaction to being brutally mocked and rejected by someone he admired and wanted to have a future with, but a frustrated predator who failed to catch its prey. If Vox tried to hypnotize him and even succeeded for a while (we don’t know when that ripped picture Vox has of him and Alastor was taken 👀), then that would seal the deal for Al.

And we see that Alastor isn’t indifferent to Vox. He pretends, but we can see some lingering resentment in the excuses and lies jab which seemed to tick Vox off a lot, we see how he reacts to Vox in that pre-pilot? pilot era? comic. Alastor feels slighted and betrayed by Vox, the indifference is just another front he’s putting on.
