I feel i've already criticized the new tshd chapter enough, now i want to talk about what i liked
I love how houses have such an impact on the story. In Rie's case represents the standards she submitted to early in life, a comfortable loving ordinary home 🏠 also represents what Yoshiki fears most: the picture perfect margarine commercial family home with a husband a wife and their kids)
But just like Yoshiki, Rie was never normal, so even though she liked this life, eventually was going to fall apart. And this comes to light when her husband becomes an impurity and suffers the effects of the hole, leading him to hurt his son
There's several other characters in the story who suffer from disturbances within their homes 🏚️ due to them not being normal but still forcing themselves: Yoshiki, lady Matsuura, old man Takeda, Maki Yuuta
• Yoshiki's house is probably the most chaotic and common environment that exists, where husband and wife constantly fight and don't communicate properly with their children
• Lady Matsuura's house is shown to be full of dirt and broken objects (in many cultures having these two things in the home brings bad luck)
• And Rie's house, old Man Takeda and Maki's, seem normal on the outside but contain impurities inside
I especially love the arc where Rie helped Maki get rid of the impurities that were inside his house, which was something she commonly did when she was younger 👁️ (as we saw in flashback with Tomo-chan)
And for me Rie's death here carries two meanings, being condemned by the place where she forced herself to be in, but also paying homage to the place that made her feel so happy and comfortable
In overall story the exaggerated explosion can represent the shattering of the illusion and the fragility of the standards that are sold to us from a young age 🏚️
And for most of the characters, their idea of home is related to literally a house and to status, and yet they're not happy and face various challenges... but for Yoshiki and Hikaru, the idea of home is each other, and this is where they set themselves apart from most of the cast
