So I just came across this gifset ( /post/113013566946/can-you-save-my-bastard-soul ) of yours for the first time and it's amazing--not just beautiful to look at, but it has something to say as well. So I have a vague idea forming in my mind about it, but I'm also curious about your thoughts on it, what made you choose these words, is Clary the one speaking, what is she saying to these specific people? You could give me from one line to one essay, anything you have to say I'm interested.

The funny thing ‘bout this, is that song lyrics, poetry, or whatever, mean different things, to different people, in different times. Personally, I LOVE the song (It’s called ‘Can you feel my heart?’, FYI) and when I heard it for the first time, Clary came to my mind. You know, ‘cause she thought she was the “bad guy” at some point in the history (COLS, maybe), ‘cause she was Valentine’s daughter and Jonathan’s sister, and they were monsters—but she wasn’t.
And, I don’t know, I thought it really fits, isn’t it?
Clary feels sorry for her brother—not the monster but the brother she couldn’t had, that’s obvious for me since COLS. With Jace, for letting Jonathan take him in COFA, maybe, and everything that happened with the Heavenly Fire after that. Aaaaand the love Clary and Jocelyn showed to each other is the typical mother-daughter love, so I had to put it on the edit. They had their arguments, yes, but they also have that really close relationship and I love it.
The ‘Forgive me, father’ was a dilemma for me. ‘Cause Valentine was never a father to Clary. She hated him and despised him. He was nothing but a monster with desire for power—and she is also really affected when people reminds her of their connection. She only had Luke, and that was enough. But what kind of girl don’t feel terrible when her biological father blame her for being the reason of her mother leaving him? How can Clary don’t feel bad ‘bout it? Even though she hated him, that’s really sad for me. He also hated Clary for seeing her as the reason Jocelyn betrayed him years ago. But there’s nothing to do with that, I think. Valentine was a real monster—everything he did, at some point, brought pain and suffering to Clary’s life and her mother’s, too. For me, the lyrics talks a lot ‘bout Clary and her family.
