okay PLEASE imagine with me an eposette disco au
it’s 1970s france
the thenardiers own a disco club
it’s shitty, it rips people off, known for having a backroom where known criminals make their dirty deals
eponine started working there as soon as she was old enough to serve club soda, and then moved up to bartender soon after
eponine hated it, and despite seeing people having so much fun every night, life was dull among all the bright colors
until she came in
cosette with her beautiful long, straight blonde hair
they make eye contact the first night she arrives and it’s electric.
every night she comes is like a game of cat and mouse, both seeming to chase the other but never getting close enough
until one day, a cocktail napkin gets slipped to eponine that merely says:
Cosette. No. 7 Rue de l'Homme-Armé
and then they fall in love or something idk i haven’t thought it all through
YES, BUT LISTEN....

One thing about Drew was that they happened to be incredibly patient. Surely it was a result of having ten siblings, particularly ten siblings with various mental and physical conditions (thanks for nothing Mr. and Mrs. Hill). They learned early on that there wasn’t always room for their voice, so they would wait their turn. Now as an adult Drew still didn’t mind waiting. The silences that sometimes filled conversations didn’t bother them in the slightest, especially when it came from someone Drew was close to.
When Rhys did speak, it wasn’t what they’d been hoping for (but had honestly expected). “I know you don’t need me, Rhys. It’s not about needing anything, it’s about me wanting to help carry some of your load for you, you know? Isn’t that what friends are supposed to do?” Drew made it a point to sign along with their spoken words when speaking to Rhys, unless their hands were full. It seemed like the right thing to do, a minimum level of respect for their friend.
At his final point Drew’s face fell ever so slightly. Thankfully they caught themself quickly, not wanting Rhys to feel bad. “Do you really mean that?” It was a tough line to straddle; wanting to respect his boundaries and wishes but also knowing that he couldn’t (or shouldn’t, rather) carry everything by himself. Having a friend in his corner was a good thing, right? Everyone needed support at some point, whether they wanted to admit to it or not. “I’m not trying to make you uncomfortable, I promise you. I just... I want you to trust that I only want to be here for you. There’s no ulterior motives, there’s no question of your own capabilities. I want to be your cheerleader, your confidante, the person that holds you while you catch your breath... But if that’s too daunting, I understand.”
