I think my biggest issue with how people treat the Remake trilogy is the way so many people just don't think outside the box with their interpretations of the story so far.
You think the whole deal with Aerith at the end of Rebirth means... she's going to be brought back to life?
You think the whole breaking away from fate deal is implying... that Meteor isn't going to destroy Midgar?
Assuming the most obvious and boring thing is going to happen and then being disappointed in the story based on that assumption is... so silly. We don't have the full story yet, and regardless the Remake trilogy already has way more layers and is far more complicated than a lot of people act like it is.
So many details get brushed over by the larger portions of the fandom and its honestly really disappointing. Maybe it's just because I got here so late but I feel like I see no one trying to answer or even asking the questions that have been the center of my interpretations and theories. There are SO many moments in this game that have implications for the story as a whole but they rarely get acknowledged.
Anywho, my point here is that Remake and Rebirth are games that really want you to look into every little detail, and the story is much more enjoyable when doing so!! Pay attention to how certain scenes are framed!! Really listen to all the dialogue and how things are said (and keep captions on)!! Pay attention to body language and facial expressions!! Take note of odd details!! Think about how different scenes and characters were expanded upon and/or changed!! Think about how different moments and characters mirror one another!! Look out for possible metaphors and symbolism!!
Take what we know will probably be in part 3 based on the original story and fill in the details with the answers to all these questions the games are practically begging you to ask!!
The Remake trilogy is a big puzzle and it wants us to try and put it together, even if we don't have all the pieces yet!!
