The path of a seraphim was often a lonely one. It was hard enough that nobody even really liked him, not that they’d even give him a chance. That rumor of a wind seraph who was created in malevolence would never leave his side-- a cursed being who just brought ruin wherever he went. It wasn’t true at all! Sure, he did often get into trouble and he didn’t have much luck, but he certainly wasn’t cursed! Jude was just... in the wrong place at the wrong time.
You couldn’t exactly choose where you started off in the world. Some seraphim did take pity on the younger, but the majority dismissed his existence or in a few worse cases... Drove him out. But so long as the latter wasn’t in play, he would venture places, public or otherwise. Libraries were especially entertaining, but unless they were closed he couldn’t use them in case people mistook disappearing and reappearing books as some kind of calamity.
Jude’s solution to this was... using the one inside Ladylake’s royal palace. Which was usually quiet and empty. On the rare occasion he might catch someone, but humans couldn’t see him and seraphim never wandered through these walls. So he was free to get lost in books for weeks on end, even if he was kind of... breaking and entering, he meant no harm in it. He was careful with the books and always returned them to their rightful places.
There was one girl though... Perhaps she was the princess of this place? She had a following and the castle staff seemed to like her. Sometimes she’d wander in here and carried a look of awe that he could level with immediately, but she was human and like all the other humans... she couldn’t see him either. Someone as kind as her... She might have given him chance, and maybe then he could learn even more about humans and their cultures.
At this moment, Jude was perched on the side of the one the tables within the library, reading a book that he had temporarily covered with his own mana, so that any human onlookers wouldn’t see a floating book. Ironically, this book was the Celestial Record, something this library had a few copies of, but the human writer seemed to be closer to seraphim than any other he could see in this day and age. “...legends like this make me wonder what it was truly like back then, and why has it changed so much now..?” speaking his own thoughts aloud, not that anyone should be able to hear them.
