Thought, re: California banning plants near (with 5 feet of) homes.
Are succulents included in this? How flammable are cacti and succulents? Are there types of plants that are significantly flame-resistant?
Any plant nerds wo read this, PLEASE share your thoughts and share with your plant nerd friends! I must know the answer.
I got a succulent plant at work the other day and I had to water it yesterday so I had a little napkin under the container to catch the water. When I came in today
the night cleaning crew had put a little cup bottom under it! They did it for my deskmate’s succulent too! They are too sweet. I never would have thought to cut the bottom off a cup for this!
2 years later . . . (summer 2020) it's about 5 to 6 feet high. About 1 inch diameter stem.
I hear it may take 5 to 15 years to get fruit, but in the meantime, its a very pretty tree.
Plant!Aziraphale has proven himself a bit dramatic. Absolutely fine this morning, leaves perky and looking swell. Pop in a mere hours later and here we are, droopy and a bit sad of himself.
Plant!Aziraphale is a Senecio Angel Wings (hence the name) and as he’s a succulent I didn’t want to overwater. Looks like he’ll tell me when feeling a bit peckish.
Went for an early morning walk to buy tea bags.
Found a friend.
I bought more rescue plants today... I just couldn’t stop myself. I went in for bird food for the birb families with baby birbs after they demolished the last lot I put out, and these plont babies were just sitting in the clearance section, practically begging me to take them home!.
Photos to follow if anyone’s even vaguely interested. One’s a cool kind of bromeliad I think, and the others are two effing bonsai trees in pots that were £3.50 each, including the pots (they look like they might want a bigger pot soon though... not sure. Have to do some research into bonsai. I do have a bonsai book I picked up in a charity shop not long ago though, so hopefully that’ll help.
If you’re not interested, all my plant stuff get’s tagged ‘ghosti’s plants’, so you can do whatever magic you need to and not see stuff with that tag, I assume???
