what would completely break your character?

More than anything? Losing Sarada.

Maybe it sounds a little genetic, but I truly believe that Sakura’s story after the war was one of loss. One of losing faith in Konoha, the shinobi way of life, questioning if everyone she knew was really trustworthy, or if there wasn’t sinister they were hiding. Even if Sarada was unplanned, for Sakura, her daughter was her greatest gain after years of disillusionment. That after so much death and strife caused by the shinobi system, here was a beautiful little girl she could do better by and break that cycle of repression and systematic abuse. 

More than just a daughter, Sarada proved to Sakura that there was life after war, that in a new era, she didn’t have to know the suffering her kinsmen did. 

But, if Sakura lost that? Sakura would break. Hell, I think that would be a turning point Sakura wouldn’t know what to do with, especially as someone who’d never lost family so tragically before like so many of her friends seemed to.
