omgomgomg plsplspls do Innocent Physical Contact + Unexpected Virgin?????? OR OR OR MAYBE Accidental Eavesdropping+ Aroused By Her Voice ??????? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASE!!!!!!!
How I’d combine these in a story:
Innocent Physical Contact + Unexpected Virgin
This just screams Rickon at me
This is just a description of Rickon, imo
I feel like because Rickon was abandoned by his parental figures so young, he holds tight to small gestures of kindness
He doesn’t get those much.
He doesn’t know how what to make of those gestures, so when he starts using them himself, it’s ENTIRELY innocent and just experimental because he doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing
Also, Rickon is definitely the unexpected virgin
I don’t buy this nonsense about him being a floosy and running around shacking up girls
Osha wouldn’t let it work.
She’d be on his ass with the discipline if he even thought about it.
And Rickon has only Osha to think of as a model for what women are like, so he’s probably a little scared of them, too
Because Osha has definitely told Rickon about how girls are shaped by societal standards and he thinks they’re all hard as nails for it.
So when Rickon finally has to interact with women (read: Shireen), he’s brash and a little bit cocky with his words, but he doesn’t know how to counter anything physical (small touches/dances/walking arm in arm/etc.)
He will slowly grow comfortable and find his bearings, but not without lots of teasing from Shireen about everything
I’ve definitely written this combination before (A LOT) because it holds with my headcanons, so if you want to read this, enjoy King of Winterfell, Promised Hands, and Study Buddies.
Accidental Eavesdropping+ Aroused By Her Voice
It’s the pronoun here that throws me.
Because of how much Selyse works to make Shireen ladylike, I headcanon her as having a not-very-pleasant voice.
So Selyse hates her even more for that.
She can’t sing well, and it’s a point of strain so she works harder at mastering many instruments to become a proper “Lady”.
For the sake of this prompt, let’s just say it’s because she was forced to do everything in the common tongue.
And one day, she hears a short folk tune in a different language
She likes it, so she memorizes it because she thinks it makes her voice sound better.
(This is a real thing, by the way)
(Like, my English singing voice is decent if I warm up, but I still think it sounds better when I sing in Spanish or fake my way through sounds of another language.)
Anyway, Shireen learns this folk tune in a language she doesn’t understand, so she only sings it to herself when she’s alone.
Sometime later, she get betrothed to a certain Starkling and their marriage is obviously forced and strained because they have very conflicting cultures and different views of how to manage lands and et cetera
Shireen’s comfort becomes a song that she sings to herself when she’s alone in her solar/bedchambers/whatever
Rickon returns early one day for [INSERT REASON HERE] and hears a song that he once heard a long time ago
He stops at the door to listen because he hasn’t heard it in so long, and it is being sung perfectly.
He recognizes the tune–one of the only love songs that circled Skagos when he was young–though now he realizes that the lyrics are not quite as innocuous as he thought
(He also realizes why Osha wouldn’t sing it to him or let him make the attempt.)
Still, he likes the reminder of home and finds it incredibly amusing that his wife somehow knows this song.
He also doesn’t quite believe that it’s his wife singing.
So he starts finding reasons to catch her singing because he wants some form of confirmation.
He does confirm that it is her, and then he starts hanging around more to try to catch her singing.
It doesn’t work, so he just continues eavesdropping whenever he can
Only day, he just decides to ask, though he doesn’t manage it until their in bed for the night
Though they haven’t really spoken more than absolutely necessary, he asks her to sing him a song
Reluctantly, Shireen sings a short song in the common tongue, hoping that it’ll put him off
Instead Rickon just asks for another song
Shireen doesn’t understand why, so she just sings him more songs in the common tongue.
Rickon begins trying to think of different ways to ask as he falls asleep, since this didn’t
When Shireen thinks Rickon has fallen asleep, she stops singing and prepares for bed
As she’s getting into bed, she starts singing the folk song.
Rickon tries not to stir or let her know that he’s awake, but the song is fairly suggestive
As he feigns sleep, he moves closer to her and presses a light kiss to her shoulder.
Shireen thinks she imagined it, so she just keeps singing
Then, Rickon is very obviously is getting touchy, and Shireen stops to ask him to stop.
He does, apologizing for getting out of hand
Shireen just kind of sheepishly tells him that she doesn’t want children yet
Rickon tries not to laugh because he doesn’t either
He tells her that he was just listening to the song, and it pulled that reaction from him
Shireen doesn’t understand, so Rickon sings the song back to her
She’s still confused, so Rickon starts again
He tries to sing it in the common tongue, trying to keep the melody with unrhyming words
Shireen just turns more and more red as Rickon continues on through the song
When he’s finished, she apologizes and swears that she will never sing it again
Rickon tells her that he doesn’t mind. He likes the song because it reminds him of home, and he likes the thought of his wife singing it
He promises that he will keep himself under control if she sings it again.
So she does, and Rickon kisses her knuckles before going to sleep.
Then, Shireen starts singing more often. She only knows a few songs, but she keeps going back to the folk song in the Old Tongue, watching Rickon’s visceral reaction to the tune.
She finds it amusing, and she realizes that when Rickon is caught off-guard she likes him a lot better, so she keeps planning on letting him catching her singing
One night, he tells her that she has to stop because he can’t focus when she’s singing
Shireen teases him about it, singing the song again, and Rickon realizes that she’s been doing it on purpose.
He moves absurdly close to her as she finishes the song, forcing them to touch.
Shireen leans into him to kiss his cheek, and Rickon waits for her to pull away before he kisses her gently.
Send me two (2) tropes from this list + a ship and I’ll describe how I’d combine them in the same story
