petty rosekiller i will love you always
i do not understand why ppl r pitting pluribus characters against each other (“manousos is set up to be an antagonist” “hive when i get you” etc.) when the question of which character is right and wrong/good or bad is never asked by the show for even a second. this show has empathy for every single perspective it presents, it never asks the audience to pick one and defend it against the others because that would be a v individualistic, violent way of thinking, and it would defeat the purpose of its own premise. the draw of the show doesn’t come from uncertainty mainly comes from how each episode expands on its central questions, how it mediates on the ways all humans r already connected, how these connections can be obscured, weaponized etc., as opposed to uncertainty over whether the characters will achieve their goals. that’s why it’s “slow.” that’s why i like the show. it’s like a break from all the noise, it lets me slow down.
you cannot be picking sides if ur trying to engage w a show like this. if it needed the audience to treat it like it was sports it would be sports. take your sensitive ass back to heated rivalry
i am going to be completely honest approaching pluribus with the question "is manousos gay?" in mind does not seem like the most productive mode of engagement.
meeting of the haters could not be going better. im kicking my legs and shit
i think we can rest easy for the next two years
pluriposters do you understand that people can be manipulative while also expressing genuine emotion. for example if someones partner says "if you leave me i will kill myself" and means it that is still manipulation. coercing someone by appealing to emotion can be achieved through deception but deception is not necessary. the hive is being honest when it says that it loves carol. the way that it loves her is expressed through manipulation. these are both true statements. when people say that they are abusing you out of love it is possible that they do love you but this does not excuse their abuse. please understand this. it is critical that you understand this.
we all need to get more daoist
i mean considering where it seems like these themes are taking us i think a version of pluribus with a Cis Het White American Man protagonist would still work but holy shit it would be 500 times less good to watch. and i think its important for carol to have a genuine reason that shes alienated from people at large and values her individuality such as being a lesbian from a homophobic family who was sent to conversion therapy as a teenager. like straight man carol would be good if they leaned super hard into the "you should not like this guy" social satire angle but gay woman carol is deeply fucking important for The Nuance. and being likeable. and being rhea seehorn.
