A brief letter to *nfjs (and anybody who relates 😋) that makes little sense
Dear *nfjs and anybody who relates and is reading this,
You know you're keeping things from people, whatever it is. You thought of it just then.
You're not telling anyone because you don't want to upset them. Because you're pretty sure you know what they'll say anyway, so there's no use in saying it aloud.
Now, you might be expecting me to say you should share because it's good for you. That's true, but you almost certainly knew that already. What I'm actually going to say is
Be open so you can be a good example
Because people will one day drive you crazy by refusing to tell you what's wrong with them, even though you KNOW you could help them if you knew.
People will constantly misjudge you and think you can't help, and you'll spend ages pulling the truth out of them when THEY COULD HAVE JUST TOLD YOU. People will want you to read their minds and pretend they're all victims and you don't care even while you're trying so hard to help.
If you actually want people to save you the time and just SAY it, then you shouldn't be a hypocrite. People can't read you, you're a good actor. You should accept it and just speak. Seriously, even YOU wouldn't be able to see through your acting. I mean, not enough to work out what was wrong. Just be honest.
Of course, this won't stop people wanting you to read their minds and do all the work for them, but at least you'll never put anyway through the same trouble. Don't resign yourself to a victim mentality when you can instead be a good example of someone who is impossible to read calmly opening up.
Then there's the problem of people underestimating how upset you are because you're calm. My advice for that is to keep talking and even being a little melodramatic until either one or both of you cry. Alternatively, imagine how that person would look in your situation and act that. Some call this manipulation, but it's better than thinking you're being clear only to have the person 'completely ignore' you because they didn't get the message.
Anyway, back to the main point: something high Fe doesn't seem to realise or remember is that people trust people who trust them. So if you're sick of pulling chickens teeth, try actually being open.
It doesn't really help tbh, but at least you can honestly tell the person you trust them 😂
Sincerely,
An infj sick of pulling chicken's teeth for months at a time
