Ah, it is the time of the year again where I decide to make substantial changes to my Kirby AU… This time I shall go through some major lore posts and explain what has been retconned. As much as it pains me to retcon art that took me weeks and weeks to create, I do care about creating a coherent story that is satisfying to go through and easy enough to understand, thus I cut down on the overall length and combined some elements leaving less of a void in between major events.
↳ The Collapse of the Old World
Moved further ahead in time. There is no longer an “Old World”
Twinkle Popopo would have her Dream Matterborn design in all instances, the design seen here is retired
All Batamon in this comic are now Matterborn
Page 1 Practically the same, if perhaps phrases differently. There is an ultimate being that embodies each ability but who it is can change over time and one being can be the embodiment of multiple abilities.
Page 2, 3 and 4 largely stay the same, though Wedding Officiant Hyness would get replaced and in place of Twinkle would be Gatteka.
Page 5 Complete retcon. Instead Gatteka dreams Baal back to life, just like El does in the Ugaritic myth this was based on.
Page 6 and 7 Instead Baal overheard Twinkle plotting to become a Chaos Matterborn, a Matterborn that consists of all four matters, in order to be the sole owner of the universe and overthrow Gatteka, Ultra and Valfrey. Baal and Anat then build an army to wage war against Twinkle and manage to kill her, Baal absorbing her dream/universe abilities and creating a derivative of this universe subconsciously which would become the Clash/Meta Knightmare universe.
↳ The origin of the Universe
Welp, this would make more sense now if the order of pages was 2, 3, 1, 4. Whoopee. I'll address the changes in that order, then. Also all Twinkles are the regular design here again.
Page 2 Instead it is When the universe came to be it manifested into four beings each representing one of the matters it consists of. First there was Twinkle Popopo, Dream Matterborn, the queen of space, the universe personified. Then there was Gatteka, Dark Matterborn, darkness incarnate. Third came Uther Ur, Heart Matterborn, being of emotions and force. Last came Valfreyja, Soul Matterborn, the avatar of the afterrealms.
Page 3 Desiring full control over the universe that is she, her mind itself, she came up with a plan to gain enough power to overthrow the other Ur-Matterborn. She needed to become a being that consists of all three matters Dream, Dark, Heart and Soul. A Chaos Matterborn. A being that would become known as VOID.
Page 1 In order to become something else she first had to discard her current vessel. She came up with a plan to let information reach the ears of Baal Hadad, leader of the Dark Matterborn, hoping that he would attack her for her sinister plans, causing a rift between his tribe and the other Matterborn. He took the bait and destroyed her, just like intended.
Page 4 Practically the same except for the first text block. It desired nothing more than to free the universe of the influence of the other three.
↳ Reborn Butterfly Timeline
The fact that the whole “Old World” plot is moved and partially gone had some consequences when it comes to the storyline of both Morpho Knights. Anything starting with the Yomi Arc is fine, above that is gonna get rewritten. I'll make a new version of this one that hopefully won't end up getting compressed into oblivion by Tumblr. This is the only one I intend on redoing so far.
↳ Gatteka lore
First image: The second half of the first text block is wrong now, the second text block is entirely wrong. The third one is fine.
Second Image: I'd remove the second text block.
Third Image: As mentioned before it is now Baal who killed Twinkle, though Ultra Knight is still very jealous and plots to become the sole ruler of the universe.
Remaining images: Largely the same, though I'd mention the fact that Twinkle was attacked by an army so Valfrey's counter attack feels a bit more justified. Also I am not satisfied with the design for Gatteka's negative form but that's not a lore thing.
↳ Valfrey lore
There does exist a new reference sheet so the first image is outdated technically. The new ref can be found here.
Image 2 is overall wrong now. It was slightly before since Valfrey used to look differently when they were young, but the larger issue is the imagery showing the darkness from the old lore being cast away. Valfrey was responsible for the creation of the suns and is the Underworld personified, that needed to be mentioned here. That being said, everything written underneath that image is still correct.
Image 3/4… They'd likely mention Gatteka's son instead. The text underneath is the larger issue. The Dark Matterborn army attacked Twinkle Popopo, killed her and then the other three Matterborn tribes counter attacked the Dark Matterborn not believing Baal's story. Dark Matterborn continue to be rare due to this conflict.
The paragraphs underneath still stand true, but I should mention that it was specifically Valfrey seeking to claim the soul of a Dream Matterborn warrior who was infected by dark matter that caused Clan Eon-Eon to fight against Valfrey. The Clan wasn't too fond of dark matter themselves.
The stuff underneath image 5 has been retconned for a while. Valfrey now had been imprisoned by Dark Nebula until around the time of Dreamland 1 where they were freed by the combined effort of Meta Knight, Morpho Knight and their respective subordinates. Knuckle Joe's father was there too, actually.
