Red alert for the Trek fandom! Starting today (March 1, 2026) the free Pluto TV service has all the Trek movies available for streaming on demand all the way from TMP through JJ Abrams lens-flare trilogy. (Wait. He didn't direct Beyond and I don't think there was all the lens flare BS in that one.) There's also a live 24x7 Trek movie channel if you're in the mood to catch whatever is currently playing.

I don't know how long this will last but I'm hoping it will go for a good long while. And as I mentioned in a previous post, all seasons of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voy, and Ent are still available to stream on demand.

P.S. Some of the Trek documentaries are available such as Shatner's The Captains, Chaos on the Bridge, and For the Love of Spock.

I think now is a good time to remind people of The Internet Archive which has a metric shit ton of shows and movies for free and won't give your computer any viruses cause it's not a pirate website.

Or Tubi, which has a metric shit ton of stuff free with ads, and you don't even have to make an account or download the app. Same with Pluto, although Pluto is pretty slow.

Even YouTube has a lot of free stuff, and I don't just mean the official YouTube movie channel. I mean, there's a bunch of channels that upload movies you can watch without having to click a link to some shady website. YouTube also has a lot of audio book uploads too.

So don't worry about not getting brand new shows because there's so much media out there's that you haven't even consumed yet.

A separate website where you can view archives of YouTube channels and videos. Keep in mind the process of archiving videos does provide YouTube with traffic, similar to a downloader. However, once a video is archived, it is stored completely separately from YouTube and no longer gives them any traffic. It's not a full, true alternative, but it's pretty good.

Another old-internet-style video-sharing website. Be careful, some users have reported encountering upsetting or disturbing content while browsing, but I haven't encountered any issues yet. I've found a lot of my favorite songs on VidLii, some seemingly by official (if old and abandoned) accounts!

Alternative streaming website, easier to navigate than BitView or Glomble.

Been using PlutoTV to watch Stargate.

I buy a lotto ticket every now and then, so I'm not opposed to gambling, but every commercial break (which has 4-5 short ads) almost every ad is for a sports betting app. Prizepicks, Underdog, Fanduel, DraftKings, and even an app to help you manage your bets across different platforms.

This is not a sign of a healthy society.

My interpretation of the ending of Revolutionary Girl Utena.

So, I recently finished RGU, and I wanted to talk about the ending. Spoilers for episode 39 of RGU under the cut:

First of all, the Utena saving Anthy thing.

Utena freed Anthy from her coffin, and was the first person to truly see the real Anthy. Utena never truly saw the real Anthy until that moment.

Utena was never actually going to save her by being a prince, because the whole prince/princess thing was a broken system. And Anthy was so oppressed, supressed, and abused that she lost hope in being saved.

No one truly saw the real Anthy. No matter how good their intentions were, they only projected their own desires and ideals on her. Anthy didn't really have a will of her own. Utena was the first person to make Anthy feel "seen". Utena saw the real Anthy. The Anthy that was buried deep, deep down.

I think they revolutionized eachother's world. In a way, they saved eachother. Utena didn't revolutionize the entire world, but she definitely revolutionized Anthy's.

Now, Utena "grew up", and left Ohtori academy. The people at Ohtori academy never truly grow into adults. Utena realized that reality isn't a fairytale, and accepted her weaknesses. She casted away her childish ideals and delusions, and finally "grew up". There wasn't a point in playing into both gender roles, and she rejected the patriarchy. With that, she also saved Anthy from her endless suffering.

This is symbolized/represented by Anthy leaving Ohtori Academy, and wanting to find Utena. Utena gave her the strength to leave both Ohtori Academy, and Akio. Like Anthy said, Utena isn't truly gone. She simply vanished from Akio's world.

I truly do love the ending of the show. I'm not sure if there will ever be another anime like Utena.

Oh also, you can watch it both subbed and dubbed on Youtube. Nozomi Entertainment posted every episode there. The movie is also on Pluto TV for free.
