THE SHEEP DETECTIVES (2026)
If you saw the fairly recent Tom Scott video in which he got to operate a trebuchet, you may find the video above interesting. Back in the early 1300s, King Edward laid siege to a castle and ordered the building of a gigantic siege engine to knock down its walls. To see whether such a thing was possible, several decades ago the PBS Nova program recruited teams of builders to attempt to construct trebuchets large enough to fling 250 lb (113 kg) balls a distance of 200 yds (183 meters). And if building such giant trebuchets was possible, they also wanted to see if it would be capable of taking down a castle wall.
I was wrong. The season 1 eps are being posted every other day rather than every day. So this would mean episode 12 will be posted 5 days before the season 2 premiere which is probably their intent.
In TMP, I had long wondered if these devices everyone is wearing over their abdomens were some sort of health monitoring devices. And in the latest Roddenberry Archives BTS video, the prop designer for TMP confirmed that is one of its purposes with the other being that it grants or limits access to different areas of the ship depending upon your status. (x) He also came up with the wrist communicators. Think about this. It's the mid-70s and this guy was already envisioning wearable tech for communication, health monitoring, and security.
BTW, I've always been amused that communicators took a big step backwards in TWOK by not only going back to the flip style but being way bigger than they were in TOS.
Yesterday, we got the 1st episode of The Librarians: The Next Chapter and today we're getting the 2nd episode. So, I'm guessing that this will keep going every day until all 12 eps of season 1 have been posted.
Looking through the notes I see I'm the only one with a warped enough sense of humor in thinking that one of them should've been shaped like a Venus flytrap or Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors.
The very first episode of The Librarians: The Next Chapter which introduces the characters and establishes its connection to the first series is available on YouTube in anticipation of season 2 coming soon. So if you've seen the previous series and haven't yet checked out the new one, here's a good opportunity.
And for the Expedition Unknown fans, it certainly looks like Josh Gates will be playing himself in an episode this season as he was wearing his trademark hat in the latest trailer.
You’re working on a starship of your choice, but you’re not in starfleet. What are you doing?
Bartender & backup therapist
Bartender & always got a scheme going
Barber & gossip peddler
Chef & official ship’s complainer
School teacher & weirdly no personality disorders
House spouse
One of the kiddos
Jack of all trades & recovering from stockholm syndrome
Run a simple little shop in which you simply make and sell goods
Groundskeeper & keeping it real
Dabo girl/waiter/just lookin cute and watching the drama unfold
See results/I’m in starfleet/other
Do you really want to be a civilian on a Starfleet ship when stuff like this is going on all the time?
Also, let's not forget that little Molly O'Brien has been through some seriously traumatic stuff as was highlighted in a post by @startrekhifi a good number of years ago. (x)

"We spoke to Guinness beforehand. They said it only counts if you eat the whole noodle and meet in the middle." (x)
This was hilarious. Ollie came up with this idea because he and Momoa had done a Lady and the Tramp thing with a spam musubi the last time he was interviewed for the Jolly Youtube channel. They still need to wait for official Guinness verification and they believe that the record won't stand for very long as the ramen noodle they consumed was only 3 meters long and it wasn't really a challenge to finish. But they both love the fact that they'll have been in the Guinness World Records even if it's for only a very brief time.
Debating Odo clothes with my husband and wondering if his combadge is a part of him or not? Like it seems like if he becomes a table or something its gone so maybe he just hides it in that case but hes shown oozing through grates and it never gets stuck so is it a part of him? Can he do electronics? It definitely works
@homoqueerjewhobbit also wants to know if, when hes having weird mindgame hate sex with quark, if he just schlorps his clothes away?
I recently asked someone who was part of the DS9 writers' room about Odo's combadge as this question keeps coming up. Here's a link to a post with his answer.

Until today I had no idea that when Michael Dorn was signed onto the cast of DS9 he sought out VFX supervisor Dan Curry who had designed the bat'leth and asked for a new type of weapon that Worf could wield. (x) Curry showed Dorn a Nepali sword, altered the area around the handle to have more of a Klingon look and the mek'leth was born.
Even though in terms of series timeline it didn't exist until DS9, its existence is mentioned in Enterprise. And given that we really don't see much use of it even in DS9 other than Worf, I have a head canon. While studying in the Klingon monastery on Boreth following the destruction of the Enterprise D, Worf met a master bat'leth maker who was also spending time at the monastery. And it's from this weapons maker that Worf learned about the mek'leth whose use by Klingon warriors had disappeared by the time of TNG. Worf was intrigued by the description and asked the weapon master to make a mek'leth for him.
Worf later had ideas for changes to the mek'leth which he shared with the weapon master and the kur'leth was born which was wielded by Worf in Star Trek Picard.

hey DS9-tumblr can you help me out?
I cannot remember what episode a quote was from, or remember the quote exactly enough to search for it, but remember one of the times Worf and Jadzia were talking after sparring, and she's annoyed he didn't compliment her, and says something like "i am a beautiful, sensitive woman and i need my ego stroked"?
can anyone remember the episode it was from? and/or what the quote Actually is?
It sounded vaguely familiar but I couldn't place the exact dialogue and episode. But, chakoteya.net has transcripts for all the Trek series and a google search turned up the following from "Bar Association" in season 4.
Dax: You know, I think I'm finally getting the hang of this mek'leth. Don't you think? Worf: It would seem so. Dax: Then why haven't you told me? Worf: A Klingon warrior does not need the praise of his teacher. Dax: I'm not a Klingon warrior. I'm a beautiful and sensitive young woman who thrives on... (Worf holds up his hand.) Dax: What is it? Worf: Listen.

According to Memory Alpha, you were the person on the writing staff who came up with the BTS idea that Odo can store some of his mass in subspace when he shape shifts to things of low mass. This has led over the years to some debate in the fandom as to his communicator when he shape shifts. Some think that he forms a functioning communicator when he takes on his normal appearance. Others think that he stores his communicator away in subspace when it's not part of his appearance. What is your take?
Personally, I think Odo puts his comm-badge in subspace, but it's definitely something we handwaved for the entire run, same as his blatant violations of conversation of mass.
So like this. But seven years instead of five and Odo's ass is multidimensional.
Even though it's never discussed on screen, I'll take your answer as the definitive answer. I appreciate you taking the time to answering these things.
HOLY FORKIN' SHIRTBALLS! I didn't realize that this was a cameo from Kristen Bell in A Man on the Inside. I figured the only cameo we were getting of her was when some of the characters were watching an episode of Veronica Mars. And she's wearing the sweater she had in her very last scene in The Good Place because Michael Schur requested it. Also, this was an easter egg referencing the very first scene in The Good Place when we see the back of Eleanor's head as she's sitting and facing a wall. (x)
Now all we need are William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, and Manny Jacinto to have cameos as D'arcy Carden was the engineering professor who had Charles giving a guest lecture.
P.S. In the video in the link above, Ted Danson and Kristen Bell talk about how they were the only cast members to know what was really happening at the beginning of The Good Place. And the directors didn't even know!
