casting a person of color as annabeth is such a POWER MOVE that single-handedly made it so much better than the movies. i am not wrong.

Maybe I'm just slow but you know in Battle of the Labyrinth and Annabeth's prophecy that allowed her to go on the quest and the line: "Loose a love to a fate worse than death".

Annabeth thought it was Percy and briefly it was cause of the Calypso situation. But it also applies for Luke. She lost Luke to Kronos and unlike Percy she didn't get him back.

Let’s not. Y’all did this with the movies too, when Annabeth didn’t have blonde hair, and out of all the bad things that movie did, you guys fixated on that, when it was really a non issue.

If a non-blonde person gets cast as Annabeth, that’s fine, as long as they can play the part. If a POC gets cast as Annabeth and don’t want to change their hair color to appease their white audience? Honestly, good for them.

This is live action, we are not going to get an actor who looks 100% like the character… and that is fine!

I cannot express how excited I am about having a black annabeth. I’ve had in depth conversations about how this would add to her character so often and I’m thrilled we’ll get to see it come to life. Leah seems wonderful, and I can’t wait to watch her act. I’m incredibly excited that a new generation of POC kids are going to have such a strong, brave and well written character to look up too. Same thing with Grover. Seeing 2/3 out of the trio be POC is so special to me. I love Walker and he’ll be an amazing Percy, but I’m so excited that we get some diversity within our leads. Aryan also seems like a wonderful guy, and I’m incredibly excited to watch all three of them bring these characters to life. They were clearly handpicked incredibly carefully, with focus and detail on the way they can capture the energy of the character. I knew that was the priority as soon as I saw Walker act. That has always been what matters, and I will not stand for any racism. These are kids. Kids who have been given an amazing opportunity to help provide positive role models for a new generation. Not to mention that we’re going to have a mainstream interracial relationship. One that is portrayed in a well developed, healthy and loving way. That’s another thing we’re severely lacking in media, especially within teenage romance. Essentially I’m so excited and everyone better be nice to these kids because they’ll be amazing and are going to have such a positive impact on the young kids watching the show for the first time.
